DAP vs STH Match Prediction - Dec 14, 2019

It's all happening in the 2019 edition of Bangladesh Premier League. It was surrounded with controversies even before it started and the no-ball incident has brought BPL back in the limelight, albeit for the wrong reasons. The controversies, however, have had no impact on the quality of cricket in the tournament. Rajshahi Royals were brilliant in the couple of matches they played and are at the top of the table. In the upcoming encounter, Dhaka Platoons are set to take on Sylhet Thunder, who both have struggled so far. It will be the third match for Dhaka Platoons, who are playing their second aganist Comilla Warriors at the time of writing. For the Thunders as well, it would be the third match and they, too, will be looking to make a move in the tournament with a win here. With both sides desperate for a win, a cracking contest is certainly on the cards.

DAP vs STH Team Previews

Dhaka Platoon

It is never easy to recover after a deflating defeat, but Dhaka Platoons did well to put up a perfect fight against the Warriors. While their match against the Warriors is still in progress, they appear to be in a pertty good position after scoring a total of 180 batting first. A win against the Warriors will push them to the top-half of the table, but a loss will drag them to a situation similar to that of the Thunder, albeit with a bit better net run-rate.

It was their batting that left Dhaka Platoon high and dry in their first match, but Tamim Iqbal ensured a good outing for them in the second match, at least with the bat. Against the Warriors, Dhaka Platoon got off to a worst possible start, with Anamul Haque getting dismissed on the first delivery of the match. Mahedi Hasan followed him back to the pavilion after hitting a laborious 12 off 17 deliveries.

Although Laurie Evans couldn't do much personally, his innings of 23 played an important role in bringing the hosts back into the contention. His partnership with Tamim Iqbal not only brought Platoon out of the trouble with a 75-run stand, but also kick-started their innings.

Thisara Perera ensured that the Platoons finish with a flourish as he smashed 42 run of just 17 deliveries. Tamim Iqbal, their most experienced batsman, was the pick of their batting as he returned with a knock of 74 runs to his name.

At the time of writing, their bowlers were smashed all around the park by PBB Rajapaksa before his innings was cut short by a brilliant delivery from Mashrafe Mortaza. On paper, the Platoons have a pretty solid attack with the likes of Mahedi Hasan, Mashrafe Mortaza, Shahid Afridi, Wahab Riaz, and Shuvagata Hom available at their disposal. Regardless of the result of their match against Comilla Warriors, Dhaka Platoon will be a tough team to beat on Saturday.

Sylhet Thunder

If things looked bad for the Thunders after the conclusion of their first game, it's gone worse now. After losing their first match to Chattogram Challengers, the Thunders lost to Rajshahi Rings as their batting failed to put even a competitive total on the board. The loss has left them languishing at the bottom of the table, at the seventh spot, with two wins to their name in two matches.

The challengers failed to make it to the playoffs in the last edition of the tournament and considering the start they've gotten off to, it is going to be steep climb for them hereon. They scored a reasonably good total of 162, batting first, against the Challengers, but their indisciplined bowling coupled with some responsible batting from the Challengers' batsmen handed them their first defeat of the tournament.

They were even worse in the second match as they were shot out for just 91 runs batting first. They got off to a reasonable start with Rony Talukdar, Johnson Charles, and Mohammad Mithun all getting into the double figures, but the dismissal of Mohammad Mithun when the team's total was 72 triggered a collapse from which the Thunder could never recover. They went from 72 for 3 in 10 overs to 91 all out.

A total of 91 was next to impossible to defend against the power-packed batting lineup of Rajshahi Royals and it didn't prove to be any different. Barring Nayeem Hasan, who got rid of Hazratullah Zazai for zero and returned with the impressive figures of 16 for 1 in his three overs, none of their bowlers was able to contain the Royals. The Royals eventually chased down the total in a little over 10 overs with eight wickets to spare.

DAP vs STH Betting Tips

Both teams haven't done much of substance in the tournament so far and have their own problems to deal with. However, they both will be desperate to win the upcoming encounter, especially with competition likely to get stiffer with every passing game. Sylhet Thunder exhibited plethora of problems, which they need to fix going into this upcoming contest. Their batting was a flop-show against the Royals and their bowling has appeared one-dimensional in both the matches they've played so far. Their performance actually dropped in their second match as compared to their perfomance in the first match. Dhaka Platoons, on the contrary, showed massive improvement in all three departments of the game, and are therefore, our pick to emerge on top in the upcoming fixture.
