DBH vs TWS Match Prediction - Nov 09, 2019

Durban Heat and the Tshwane Spartans had a below-par season of the Mzansi Super League in its inaugural year. Both the teams have made some reinforcements to their squad and changed up their support staff to try and change things around.

The draft system of picking players ensures that all teams end up with a similar level of talent pool and these two teams are no different. Players like David Miller and AB de Villiers may get all the attention but there are a number of other players to watch out for as well.

Durban Heat vs Tshwane Spartans MSL 2019 is going to be played at Kingsmead, Durban on the 9th of November 2019.

DBH vs TWS Team Previews

Durban Heat

The big change that Durban Heat has made this season is to bring in Dane Vilas as the captain. Not only is Vilas seeing a rise in his stocks as a T20 batsman but his leadership skills have been praised across the board as well.

He is going to lead from the front and will help calm the team down a bit too.

Some explosive hitters like Alex Hales, David Miller, and Andile Phehlukwayo are a part of this side. Khaya Zondo, Sarel Erwee, and Ravi Bopara are some other players that will contribute in the batting department as well.

We would love to see Alex Hales and David Miller at their best in this competition because it seems in recent times that they have struggled to get back to their best. The T20 World Cup is on the radar of every international team and both these players will want to get in the right frame of mind moving towards that.

The all-rounder presence of Phehlukwayo and Bopara, who is the flavor of the month after his heroics in the Vitality Blast, will help add a lot of balance to Durban Heat too. In fact, there are a number of other all-rounders in the squad as well like Daryn Dupavillon, Wiha Lubbe, and Shaun von Berg.

Keshav Maharaj and Kyle Abbott are the two players that can be classified as pure bowlers in the side.

Durban Heat has a strong batting lineup but its bowling resources look thin and a lot will be expected from the all-rounders in the side.

Tshwane Spartans

AB de Villiers does not play any international or first-class cricket anymore and so this tournament is the only chance that he will get to play in front of his home crowds. The South African public will be keen to see the best of AB de Villiers as so many people do around the world.

AB de Villiers has a tough task ahead of him. He has to bat at his best and be the inspiration for the Tshwane Spartans because they appear to be a bit short on talent around him. We like Heinrich Klaasen as a batsman but he is not an automatic pick for the South African international side.

Similarly, Dean Elgar is not a renowned T20 player although he may argue that fact vehemently.

Theunis de Bruyn and Tom Curran are good all-rounders in the squad. Tom Curran is not going to be available for this match though because of international duty. Theunis de Bruyn has also not had the best returns in international cricket of late and would be under some pressure to perform.

Tony de Zorzi, Wiaan Mulder, Roelof van der Merwe, and Petrus van Biljon are talented players without really causing any of the opposition to worry about them too much.

The standout player in this squad is AB de Villiers and he will have to use his genius to try and lift the others in the side as well.

Morne Morkel, Lungi Ngidi, Roelof van der Merwe, Theunius du Bruyn, and Lutho Sipalma appear to the players that will take care of the bowling attack in the opening match for the Tshwane Spartans.

Take de Villiers out of this team and you don’t have much left, which should be a big warning sign for anyone looking to back the Tshwane Spartans consistently.

Pitch and Conditions

There are some showers expected on the morning of the match and that could end up causing a delay in proceedings. Hopefully, the rain should not stay around for too long to cause a reduction in over. Durban is always a good batting ground and that is not going to change. The rain may make the outfield a bit heavy and bring down the par score. Some moisture in the air and in the pitch could help the fast bowlers too.

A score of about 150 may be considered as par for this match.

We believe that it is Durban heat that will dominate this game and this is why have favored its players in the team selection. AB de Villiers, David Miller, and Morne Morkel are almost certain to be a part of every Dream11 side so they are not going to matter much. The other lesser known players will be the differentiators.

DBH vs TWS Betting Tips

We really rate Dane Vilas very highly and think he is an astute thinker of the T20 game. Durban Heat has to work on its bowling and find some regular contributors, which is a big problem, but their batting appears to be in good hands.
