Delhi Capitals Women

The Delhi Capitals have played some excellent cricket this season, winning 4 of the 5 matches that they have played so far. They have 8 points in their kitty and are in 2nd place on the points table. A win here will all but guarantee them a spot in the next stage.

Meg Lanning and Shafali Verma have been superb for the Capitals at the top of the order and are the top two run-getters from the team. Lanning has scored an incredible 221 runs in 5 innings and is the current orange cap holder. Jemimah Rodrigues and Alice Capsey have been pretty solid in the middle order and have added stability to the batting by playing some solid knocks.

All-rounders Jess Jonassen and Marizanne Kapp add a lot of depth to the batting. The seamers have done a good job for the team with Shikha Pandey and Tara Norris picking up 15 wickets between them. However, their full-time spinner, Radha Yadav has struggled to make an impact and the team has had to rely on part-timers Alice Capsey and all-rounders Kapp and Jonassen to get them wickets during the middle overs. 

Gujarat Giants Women

The Gujarat Giants have won just 1 of the 5 matches that they have played so far and are currently 4th on the points table, trailing the UP Warriorz, who have played one game fewer compared to the Giants. The Gujarat Giants have an NRR of (-3.207) which is the least among all the teams and with each passing match, the chances of the Giants making it to the next stage are diminishing.

It was yet another batting failure for the Giants in their last match, as they could manage to score just 109 runs while chasing a target of 163 runs against a rampant Mumbai Indians. Sophia Dunkley, who had scored a brilliant half-century in her previous appearance at the Brabourne, fell for a golden duck.

The struggle to score runs continues for Annabel Sutherland, D Hemalatha, and Ashleigh Gardner, all of whom were dismissed for single-digit scores. Harleen Deol was once again the top-scorer for the Giants, while skipper Sneh Rana and Sushma Verma put up some resistance lower down the order.

But that wasn’t nearly enough for the Giants. It is a similar story with the bowling unit too, as there has been no standout performer in the team with the ball. Kim Garth picked up a fifer earlier in the series but has struggled to pick up ever since.

The full-time spinners, Sneh Rana and Tanuja Kanwar too have lacked consistency.
