DCW vs RCBW Match Prediction - Mar 13, 2023

The Royal Challengers Bangalore Women are fighting for survival as they take on the Delhi Capitals for the second time in the inaugural season of the Women’s Premier League.

The Capitals registered a thumping 60-run win over RCB in the earlier fixture and will be looking to put up a similar performance on this occasion too. Going by the poor run of form that the Royal Challengers are going through, it wouldn’t be surprising if the Capitals have it their way.

DCW vs RCBW Team Previews

Delhi Capitals Women

After suffering a humiliating defeat against the Mumbai Indians Women on Thursday, the Delhi Capitals Women are back to winning ways as they trumped the Gujarat Giants by 10 wickets. With 3 wins in 4 matches, the Capitals are second on the points table and are well on track to making it to the next stage.

The Delhi Capitals have one of the strongest batting line-ups in the league, with both the openers, Meg Lanning and Shafali Verma being in excellent form. Lanning and Verma are ranked first and second respectively in the list of top run-getters this season so far. Jemimah Rodrigues is in good form too, but she is yet to convert her starts into a big score.

However, the all-rounders in the team including Marizanne Kapp, Jess Jonassen, and Alice Capsey have struggled to score runs. The strategy of buying Tara Norris, an Associate Nation player, has worked well for the Capitals as they are the only team in the league who have the flexibility of fielding 5 overseas players in a match. Tara Norris, along with Marizanne Kapp, and Shikha Pandey, has bowled exceedingly well on the Mumbai wickets, which are generally known to favor the slower bowlers as compared to the seamers.

Marizanne Kapp picked up a brilliant fifer in the match against the Gujarat Giants to lay the foundation for a big win. The spinners however have struggled a bit to pick up wickets and will be hoping to put up better performances going ahead in this tournament.

Royal Challengers Bangalore Women

After the end of the first round in the double round-robin tournament, the Royal Challengers are the only team in the league who are yet to register a win and as a result, are firmly placed at the bottom of the points table. With only 3 teams being able to advance to the next stage, RCB will now have to play each of its upcoming matches as a virtual knockout.

Skipper Smriti Mandhana and Ellyse Perry have done a decent job till now but both have failed to convert their starts into match-winning innings. However, the real cause of worry for the Royal Challengers is the failure of their middle-order batters to get going.

They have experimented with players like Disha Kasat, Kanika Ahuja, and Richa Ghosh for the number-4 slot but none of them have been able to perform well. Heather Knight, who has a reputation for being a good finisher too has failed to perform up to the expectations. Sophie Devine scored a brilliant half-century in the match against the Gujarat Giants and the team will be hoping that she puts a similar performance here.

The Royal Challengers made wholesale changes to their bowling line-up in the last match as they left out Preeti Bose and Poonam Khemnar. However, omitting Megan Schutt, who is the most potent seamer in the squad was a move that backfired as the likes of Komal Zanzad, Sahana Pawar, and Renuka Singh weren’t up to the task to defend a below-par target.

The Royal Challengers must get their act together in all aspects of the game if they want to survive.

DCW vs RCBW Toss Prediction

3 of the last 3 matches at the DY Patil Sports Academy have been won while chasing. Therefore, the winner of the toss will likely opt to bowl first here.

Pitch and Conditions

The surface at Navi Mumbai is an absolute belter and we can expect a high-scoring contest on Monday. The team batting first will be looking to set a target of over 180 runs here to give their bowlers a good chance to defend. The pitch gets easier to bat on as the match progresses.

As mentioned earlier, the spinners usually get some good turn here. But Shikha Pandey and Marizanne Kapp have shown that with a disciplined line and length, even the quicker bowlers can be successful.

The weather is expected to remain warm with some stray clouds lining the sky.

DCW vs RCBW Betting Tips

The RCB Women have dug themselves into a big hole and are finding it extremely difficult to get out of it. Despite roping in some of the best T20 talent, the Royal Challengers haven’t been able to get going and we think they will continue to struggle here.

The Capitals on the other hand have been in excellent touch and have struck a good balance of bowlers and batters in their team and they hold the aces here.

While Bangalore hasn’t been able to win a single match so far this season, it has a very strong top order as far as the batting is concerned. Royal Challengers have a run rate of 8.88 during the Powerplay, which is the highest among all teams. They have scored 54 or more runs during the first 6 overs in 3 of the 4 matches played this season and that’s why we are recommending an Over bet here.

Meg Lanning is in sublime form this season and is the highest run-getter for the Capitals as well as in the tournament so far. She has scored 206 runs so far, including 2 half-centuries, one of which came against RCB earlier this season. Seeing her form, we are backing her to be the top batter for her team in this match.

Just like her opening partner, Shafali Verma too is in excellent form and has scored 179 runs at an average of 59.66. She scored 84 runs when the Capitals last met RCB and seeing the below-par bowling line-up of Bangalore, we are backing Shafali to put up another sterling performance.
