Mumbai Indians performed brilliantly while staring straight into the elimination and are still hanging in the contention for the playoffs, albeit by a thin thread. Mumbai Indians will have to win their last game as well which is against Delhi Daredevils. Delhi Daredevils, on the other hand, are already knocked out of the tournament and will meet Chennai Super Kings on Thursday, 18th May 2018. Although this match won't have any impact on the points table, both the teams are expected to tussle hard for here for different reasons. Having been in nothing to lose situation, the Daredevils are expected to play with freedom to redeem their pride. On the contrary, the Super Kings will like to stay on the winning run to avoid any chances of a slip up in the business end of the tournament.
It hasn't been a tournament to remember for Delhi Daredevils, but they have a lot to take forward from here. Rishabh Pant has been fantastic for them and has racked up 582 runs in 12 outings. Their squad has looked different after Iyer has taken over the reigns from Gautam Gambhir.
In their last match, they were tottering on 25 for 2 at one stage when Rishabh Pant joined Shreyas Iyer in the middle. Pant went after the bowlers right from the beginning which allowed Shreyas Iyer a chance to get set. Shreyas Iyer, however, failed to convert his start and departed for a personal score of 32. Rishabh Pant scored 61 off 34 deliveries.
The total of even 160 looked out of reach after Pant and Iyer departed while trying to up the ante, but debutant Abhishek Sharma scored 46 runs off just 19 deliveries to take their total of 181. Although 181 was an above par score that day, their bowling failed to restrict Royal Challengers Bangalore from achieving it. Sandeep Lamichhane troubled even AB de Villiers with his leg-spinners and is likely to be persisted with again.
Overall, just like the last match, Delhi hasn't been as poor in the tournament as the numbers suggest. Things could have been a lot different had they won those close matches. They have good players at their disposal and we might well just see the best of them in their next game where they have nothing to lose.
Prithvi Shaw, Glenn Maxwell, Shreyas Iyer, RR Pant, V Shankar, Abhishek Sharma, Harshal Patel, Amit Mishra, Avesh khan, Sandeep Lamichhane, TA Boult.
With Rajasthan Royals defeating the Mumbai Indians in their last match, Chennai Super Kings became on the only team to qualify for the playoffs in all the tournament's they've been part of. With eight wins out of twelve matches, the Super Kings are now ascertained of being the top two teams, as far as the points table is concerned.
Their last game against was expected to be a tough battle, but thanks to the brilliant batting of Ambati Rayudu and Shane Watson, they chased it down with eight wickets to spare. Batting first, SRH gave Chennai Super Kings a target of 180 runs. Deepak Chahar was impeccable upfront as he picked up Alex Hales and conceded only 16 runs in his quota of four overs. None of the other bowlers could make much impact.
It was a par score for CSK to chase and a quick yet solid start was what they were looking were. The opening pair of Shane Watson and Ambati Rayudu did not disappoint and stitched together a partnership of 134 in just 13.3 overs. Suresh Raina followed Shane Watson quickly, but Rayudu and MS Dhoni ensured the smooth chase for the Super Kings.
All in all, Chennai Super Kings have looked to be a complete team besides Sunrisers Hyderabad. Their batting has done well throughout the IPL, and their bowlers have chipped in occasionally as well. Given the form they're in, it would take some effort from any team to get past them.
SR Watson, Ambati Rayudu, SK Raina, Sam Billings, MS Dhoni, Dwayne Bravo, Ravindra Jadeja, Harbhajan Singh, Deepak Chahar, SN Thakur, Lungi Ngidi.
Although the majority of the matches here in this tournament have been won by the team batting first, we have seen a trend reversal in the last couple of matches. Expect the team winning the toss to field first.

Dew plays a major role here and as was evident in the last match, batting second becomes a little easier here. There has been some light spell of showers in the past few days, but fortunately, the forecast for Friday is bright and sunny. Scores in the range of 180-190 will be par here and expect the team winning the toss to field first.
As far as the points table is concerned, this game is a dead-rubber. However, Delhi Daredevils will be looking to redeem themselves and take some pride and confidence into the next season. Chennai Super Kings, on the other hand, would love to build on their momentum as we approach the playoffs. Considering the recent performances and the balance of the teams on paper, expect Chennai Super Kings to win this upcoming encounter.
