About the Match
About the Match
The Delhi Daredevils have started this tournament in style and have registered two victories from three matches. They will be hosting the form team of the tournament, the Kolkata Knight Riders in what promises to be one of their toughest assignments this season.
There is a very interesting similarity in the way these two teams compete. Both of them depend on local talent for the batting while leaving the bowling and power hitting to the overseas players. Sanju Samson and Rishabh Pant are the two Indian batsmen that have been performing well for the Delhi daredevils, but Karun Nair has been very disappointing.
Shreyas Iyer also slotted back into the team after missing the first two and will only add to the batting strength of this team.
The real punch though comes from the bat of Chris Morris, Corey Anderson and even Pat Cummins propelling Delhi to some really big scores in the last two matches. If Delhi can reach to a score slightly above average then they will be very tough to beat because their bowling attack is absolutely first rate.
Zaheer Khan has not played cricket since the last IPL but seems to have lost none of his guile. Pat Cummins and Chris Morris provide pace and the ability to bowl Yorkers at the end of the innings as well. The two spinners Shahbaz Nadeem and Amit Mishra round out an attack that is quite possibly the best in the tournament.
We really like the chances of this Delhi team this season if the batsman can continue to perform consistently.
For this match, the same team that won the last two matches is expected to be played.
Kolkata Knight Riders
Gautam Gambhir has once again raced to the top of the run-scoring list this season with 182 runs and is leading the KKR batting lineup with style. Manish Pandey with 152 runs and Robin Uthappa with 98 runs are also showing signs of good form and lending a healthy balance to their team.
The only area where KKR seems to be missing out a little is in the power hitting area. The loss of Andre Russell and now Chris Lynn has meant that they do not have the same six hitting ability as other teams. Yusuf Pathan always threatens to recreate his famous big hitting but does far too less to be taken seriously as a threat.
The bowling for KKR has been very effective although the overseas pair of Trent Boult and Chris Woakes have struggled to be very incisive. Sunil Narine has been miserly as always and Kuldeep Yadav has always created chances when he has played.
On a pitch that is expected to turn a little as the match progresses, Narine, Yadav and maybe even Piyush Chawla could be very difficult for the young Delhi Daredevils batting lineup to get away. The return of Umesh Yadav has provided Gambhir yet another wicket taking bowler as well.
Head To Head
Delhi Daredevils and KKR have faced off 19 times in the IPL with KKR winning 10 out of those encounters. KKR has also beaten the Delhi Daredevils in 4 out of the last five matches that they have played.
We think KKR is going to have a tough time at the Feroz Shah Kotla but be able to get past Delhi in the end.
Kolkata Knight Riders To Win.
