About the Match
Daredevils registered a massive win against Rising Pune Supergiants recently by 97 runs to give them their first win of the season; they have 2 points and are placed 5th on the table, and will take on Kings XI Punjab, who are placed 3rd with 4 points, on 15th April at home ground Delhi. Punjab lost their last game against KKR by 8 wickets after the opposition chased down the modest 170 set by them; they will be eager to make a comeback here. It needs to be seen if Delhi can leverage the home advantage to climb up the ladder with another win on Saturday.
Sanju Samson is in terrific form and he showcased his skills against Pune, posting a heroic 102 off just 63 deliveries to thrust the innings to 205. Speedster Zaheer Khan then struck with a 3-20 in 3 overs to stifle the opponent’s chase while Pat Cummins and Chris Morris contributed with 3 wickets together. Spinner Amit Mishra registered a fine 3-11 and helped them win the match by a thumping 97 runs.
Previously against RCB, the batting line-up had failed to reach a 158-run target after top-order batsmen like Tare, Samson and Karun Nair were dismissed cheaply. Rishabh Pant tried to revive the innings with a well-made 57 off 36 while Sam Billings scored 25 but they fell short by 15 runs.
Speedsters Zaheer Khan, Pat Cummins and Chris Morris were among the wicket takers and they are consistently providing breakthroughs. The spin department is also looking strong with Nadeem assisting Mishra in taking wickets; they combine well and can try to outwit the opponents in the upcoming game as well. The batting line-up is sturdy with players like Samson, Nair, Pant, Billings and all-rounders like Morris and Brathwaite; they could try to build solid partnerships here.
Kings XI Punjab
They suffered a thrashing from KKR after the bowlers failed to defend 170 runs against Gambhir and company; speedsters like Ishant Sharma, Varun Aaron, Mohit Sharma and Sandeep Sharma proved to be too costly and while spinner Axar Patel provided a breakthrough with the ball, the others could hardly make a dent on the opposition’s chase. Earlier, with the bat, Amla, Vohra, and Maxwell tried to get the scoreboard ticking while middle-order players like Saha and Miller did well to take the innings to 170 but it wasn’t enough against an in-form KKR batting unit.
In the match against RCB, Varun Aaron claimed 2-21 with his fast-bowling skills while Sandeep Sharma and Axar Patel dismissed one opponent each to restrict them to 148 runs. Hashim Amla posted a well-made 58 while Vohra and Maxwell contributed with 34 and 43 runs respectively to steer the team to a win by 8 wickets.
They have experienced players in both batting and bowling, who can help their team make a comeback in the upcoming match. If the bowlers can stay sharp and focused on getting quick wickets, then can surely try to outwit Delhi in their own backyard.
The Daredevils come here at the back of a win and with the home advantage can try to continue with their winning momentum; Kings XI suffered a setback recently and will fight hard to bounce back. The game could swing either way but we feel that Daredevils have a well-balanced batting and bowling unit that makes them clear favorites to win again.
