The Dhaka Dynamites have remained unbeaten in the Bangladesh Premier League and have emerged as the strongest side in the BPL so far. They have an opportunity to extend that unbeaten streak against the Rajshahi Kings in this match.
The Rajshahi Kings have only won two out of their five matches and are coming into this fixture on the back of a loss as well. The Rajshahi Kings also have the worst net run rate out of all the teams but that won’t be too much of a concern at this early stage in the BPL.
The Bangladesh Premier League has now shifted base to Sylhet for its next leg of matches. On first appearances, the surface looks quite similar to what we experienced in Dhaka.
The Dhaka Dynamites have been able to win all their matches in the tournament so far thanks to a batting lineup that has performed better than everyone else. In fact, it seems like one or the other player in the Dhaka Dynamites side is always ready to pick up the slack.
Having some excellent players spread throughout the order will do that, we guess!
The Dhaka Dynamites have seen some excellent performances from Sunil Narine, Rony Talukdar, Shakib Al Hasan, Kieron Pollard, and Andre Russell. Having three of the best all-rounders in the T20 format in the side also gives the Dhaka Dynamites a lot of options.
Shakib Al Hasan, Kieron Pollard, and Andre Russell are all capable of bowling their full quota of overs and winning the match with the bat in hand as well.
Hazratullah Zazai is the one player that has struggled to strike form up until now but it looks like the Dhaka Dynamites are prepared to stick with him for a while. There is no doubt that Zazai is a very dangerous player but he needs to add another dimension to his game apart from just trying to bash the ball into oblivion.
There were seven bowlers used by the Dhaka Dynamites in the previous game and that illustrates the point we were making about flexibility. Shuvagata Hom, Sunil Narine, Aliss Islam, and Rubel Hossain have all been in the wickets this BPL season.
They have also managed to keep the runs down. In fact, with three other genuine bowling options in the side, the Dhaka Dynamites could very easily add another batsman into their playing eleven and not worry about getting through the overs.
Hazratullah Zazai, SP Narine, R Talukdar, Asif Hasan, Shakib Al Hasan, Kieron Pollard, Andre Russell, Nurul Hasan, Aliss Islam, Mohammad Naim, Rubel Hossain.
The Rajshahi Kings have won only two matches in the Bangladesh Premier League so far and this could be down to their weak batting lineup. The side has been struggling for runs and lacks the depth that the Dhaka Dynamites have.
In fact, the batting lineup of the Rajshahi Kings is one of the weakest in the entire BPL.
Their top order consists of Mominul Haque, Laurie Evans, Soumya Sarkar, and Mehidy Hasan as a pinch hitter on most occasions. None of these batsmen are in form and Mehidy Hasan is a talented tail-ender at best.
The real concern for Bangladesh fans would be to see two of their national team regulars struggling to get a run on the board.
Ryan ten Doeschate has joined the middle order but once again we are not too sure if the Bangladeshi conditions will allow him to showcase the best of his abilities. He is joined by Zakir Hasan and Christiaan Jonker in the lower order, neither of whom are names to fear.
Overall, the batting strength is lacking in power, experience, as well as proven success.
The Rajshahi Kings must hope that its bowling lineup is able to do much of the heavy lifting required for it to win matches. They have some quality bowlers like Mustafizur Rahman, Mehidy Hasan, and Isuru Udana in their side.
Out of these, it would seem natural that Mustafizur Rahman is the player that can do the most damage to the opposition but sides are quite content to play him out. This is why someone like Isuru Udana, who also has a lot of slower ball variations, can be such a big threat.
We would advise backing him to be the top wicket-taker in the side.
Shahriar Nafees, Marshall Ayub, Mehidy Hasan, Zakir Hasan, Christiaan Jonker, RN ten Doeschate, Isuru Udana, S Prasanna, A Sunny, Kamrul Islam, Mustafizur Rahman.
