The Dhaka Dynamites had lost five games on the trot before reaching a stage where every further game in the Bangladesh Premier League was going to be a must win for them. They have responses as champion sides do and started winning.
They were up against the Chittagong Vikings in the Eliminator and made short work of them. They now face up to the Rangpur Riders in the Qualifier 2 to get a chance of facing the Comilla Victorians in the BPL 2019 Final.
The Rangpur Riders have lost two of their best players at a crucial time and will have to dig deep into their reserves for this match. The side stormed into the BPL 2019 Knockouts on the basis of its strong batting and still have a couple of very dangerous players at its disposal.
There is no question, though, that the Rangpur Riders are more susceptible than they have been.
The Dhaka Dynamites are the most successful side in the Bangladesh Premier League history and they have players that know how to win. Armed with three of the best all-rounders playing the T20 game anywhere in the world, the Dhaka Dynamites cannot be underestimated whatever be the situation.
This is why their fans would have been confident of a comeback even when the Dhaka Dynamites started to flounder towards the end of the group stages. Now that they are in the Qualifier 2, another name for the semi-final, the Dhaka Dynamites can be expected to bring their best game to the table.
The Dhaka Dynamites were not really tested by the Chittagong Vikings in the Eliminator. Four wickets for Sunil Narine broke the back of the Chittagong Vikings and ensured that the Dhaka Dynamites had to chase a small total for victory.
The bowling is the area where the Dhaka Dynamites can distinguish themselves against the Rangpur Riders again. Andre Russell, Sunil Narine, Shakib Al Hasan, and Rubel Hossain are four international bowlers that excel in T20 cricket.
Shuvagata Hom and the other supporting bowlers are not to be scoffed at either giving the Dhaka Dynamites the better bowling attack in this contest. Kieron Pollard was not required to bowl at all in the previous match and that speaks volumes of the reserves that the Dhaka Dynamites have.
The batting also performed admirably in the last match. Evin Lewis, Sunil narine, Andre Russell, Kieron Pollard, and Shakib Al Hasan are all proven match winners. The only issue we see si with the batting order which continues to push down Pollard and Russell below other much less talented batsmen.
The Dhaka Dynamites have an excellent side that is capable of winning under all conditions. The only think that can hold it back is its own poor strategy.
WU Tharanga, SP Narine, R Talukdar, Shakib Al Hasan, Nurul Hasan, Kieron Pollard, Andre Russell, Shuvagata Hom, Mahmudul Hasan, Qazi Onik, Rubel Hossain.
The Rangpur Riders had put all their baskets in their batting and it is quite unfortunate for them that Alex Hales and AB de Villiers are not going to be available for the BPL playoffs. In their absence. Ravi Bopara and Benny Howell have to step up.
They are both good T20 players and add some bowling ability to the side but they don’t even come close to filling the gap left behind by the players they are replacing.
Chris Gayle and Rilee Rossow, the two players left behind from the original fab-4 batting stars, will have to pick up the slack. Both of them played a good knock in the previous match scoring 46 and 44 respectively but there was very little once they got out.
Benny Howell played the inning of the match for the Rangpur Riders last time around scoring 55 off just 28 deliveries with five sixes but he is not someone we would bank on to repeat that performance too many times.
We think the task is pretty straightforward for the Rangpur Riders in this match. They have to hope that one of Chris Gayle or Rilee Rossow plays a match winning inning to get them over the line. The rest of the batting looks weak and the bowling is pretty underwhelming as well.
Farhad Reza, Mashrafe Mortaza, Ravi Bopara, Benny Howell, Sohag Gazi, and Shaiful Islam bowled in the previous match for the Rangpur Riders. This is not a bowling line up that would challenge the strong Dhaka Dynamites lineup on most days.
Head to head, the Rangpur Riders seem to be outgunned in all departments and are left hoping for individual brilliance rather than a team effort.
Chris Gayle, Mohammad Mithun, Rilee Rossouw, RS Bopara, Benny Howell, Nahidul Islam, Farhad Reza, Nazmul Islam, Mashrafe Mortaza, Shafiul Islam, Nadif Chowdhury.

The Bangladesh Premier League 2019 Qualifier 2 is going to be played at the Shere Bangla National Stadium, Dhaka. The weather forecast is for clear skies on match day and so we should not have any interruptions.
The biggest concern is going to be the pitch. A slow surface with help for the spinners is expected. The batsmen have shown better adaptability to the conditions and a need for attacking the new ball is recognized.
A score of around 160 is going to be difficult to chase.
The Dhaka Dynamites are the better-rounded side in this contest. They have the better batting lineup and a superior set of bowlers at their disposal. The Rangpur Riders have some dangerous batsmen that can win them the game but that is not something we would bank on.
Back the Dhaka Dynamited to win.
