About the Match
The two teams languishing at the bottom of the points table would fight for pride on Sunday, 28th April 2013 at 8pm. This IPL hasn’t been juicy for any on the side as they’ve been on the losing side more often than not. If Delhi wins this game, they’d jump one slot up, ahead of Pune due to superior Net Run Rate. A victory for Pune would not only keep them alive in the tournament, but also knock Delhi out of it. This game is more or less a ‘Do or Die’ game for both the sides and they’d be looking to make something out of it.
Pune Warriors India:
Pune didn’t even recover from David Miller’s match winning knock at PCA, Mohali and was assaulted ruthlessly by Chris Gayle. Chris Gayled demolished their bowling lineup single-handedly, which up till now performed reasonably well. It was never going to be easy chasing that sort of target, but their batsmen didn’t even bothered to stay at the crease. Despite such a massive loss, there were some positives out of that game too. Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Luke Wright were the pick of the bowlers giving just around 6 an over when their team average was more than 13 an over. Steve Smith produced yet another good innings and kept the losing deficit down. Aaron Finch is in good form and it would really be important for him to get going. Pune is a good side and what happened on the other night can happen to any team; they just need to bounce back and bounce back hard.
Delhi Daredevils’ flop show has been one of the biggest surprises of this IPL season. With big names like Warner and Virender Sehwag along with veteran Mahela Jayawardene, Delhi has not only failed on numerous occasions but has failed badly. It was only one game in which Sehwag and Jayawardene fired, and except for there was nothing daring in their approach. They’ve tried all the combinations, but have failed with each one of them. Daredevils have a strong team with excellent batting tailor-made for T20 cricket which isn’t clicking. Delhi is now having almost negligible hopes to qualify for the knockouts, but they certainly need to get their lost pride back and they are good enough side to do it.
The match between two poorest IPL sides may turn out to be one of the most interesting games of IPL. Both the team have nice bunch of players who are not clicking together at the right time. It’s pretty difficult to choose between the sides as both the sides have no indication of their form. It is an all or nothing game for Pune and they’d be coming out all guns blazing. Their campaign so far has been better than Delhi and they may well get past Daredevils to stay alive in this long competition.
