About the Match
Mumbai Indians and Rajasthan Royals have already climbed up the table and are looking well set to make it to the playoffs. Chennai has already made it to the playoffs which leaves a tough competition between Royal Challengers Bangalore and and Sunrisers Hyderabad. The next assignment for Royal Challengers would be very crucial where they face down and out Delhi Daredevils on Friday, 10th May 2013. Delhi has underperformed the whole season and Royals’ away record hasn’t been so good. Delhi would be looking to spoil chances of RCB which may result in a very crunch game.
Delhi beginning to the second half of the season hasn’t been any different from the first half. They’ve lost their games and that too without putting up any fight. There were plenty of positives from their last game though. Ben Rohrer and Kedar Jadhav played splendidly well to propel them to over 150. Delhi’s opening combination is a cause of great worry and it looks that Mahela Jayawardene would have to drop himself to address the issue as his form hasn’t been anywhere close to good. They have a nice bowling unit, but they made plenty of unnecessary changes in their last match. They need to make some inspired changes and then they can be an even lethal force to play against.
Royal Challengers Bangalore:
The competition for Royal Challengers Bangalore to qualify for the playoffs is much closer than it seems. Currently, only net run rate separates the two, and a win can surely make a lot of difference. RCB’s form away hasn’t been as good as it has been at home. They lost the last game due to the spellbinding batting by David Miller who scored a hundred in just 38 balls. Their fielding was to be blamed for that, and the rest was Miller’s magic. Chris Gayle looks to be in top form and inclusion of Pujara has certainly made their batting lineup stronger. AB de Villiers and Virat Kolhi are in good form who does give the finishing punch well when needed. Their bowling looks out of sorts, but they’d have to get back to pose some serious threat to Delhi’s explosive lineup. With a world-class batting lineup and good enough bowling talent, RCB is a tough contender on any given day.
Royal Challengers have really ridden well upon the runs scored by Chris Gayle. More often than not, their batting has done the job for them, regardless of how their bowlers performed. RCB is a well-balanced side with match winners in abundance. Delhi too is a dangerous side playing at their home turf. It is a crucial game and Delhi Daredevils when in mood can thrash any opponent on their day, but looking at their current form it is very unlikely that it would be their day when they take on RCB. I’d pick Royal Challengers Bangalore for this game.
