About the Match
The stage would be set on fire when Delhi Daredevils match against Royal Challengers Bangalore. The two IPL giants meet each other on 16th April and would begin at 8:00pm IST. So far, the journey of both the sides has been opposite. While RCB has managed to keep up to their reputation by winning three out of their five games, DD has not been able to get over the line even once. Considering the form, this might sound to be a one-sided affair, but on paper DD is a very strong side and has equal chance of emerging on top.
Royal Challengers Bangalore:
Though much of the talks have been around Chris Gayle, this season has made all see what this side is capable of even if the big West Indian fellow fails. With captain Virat Kohli in one of his most sublime forms constantly being a contender for the orange cap and later down the order the skillful and gruesome shots played by AB De Villiers, RCB’s batting is one of the strongest in IPL. With players like Dan Christian in the lineup, the team only gets stronger in both batting and bowling department. Apparently their bowling appears to be a little weak, but batting pays for it and any target is very difficult to save against RCB.
Unmukt Chand though was the headline hitter when India U-19 team lifted the trophy under his captaincy, but his run in the IPL has not been much to brag about. Due to multiple failures, he is forcing his opening partner David Warner to play a dual role of saving the wicket and also keeping up with the pace of run rate. With the iconic player Virender Sehwag coming back in the last game, Mahela Jayawardene would be a relieved man. DD is a team with a lot of class and caliber, but they are just not coming well together. With Irfan, Umesh and Morkel, their bowling unit is good and their batting just need to match it up.
If it’s said that the Delhi Daredevils without Sehwag is just like a body without backbone, most would not disagree. Now with Sehwag back, Delhi would certainly look to raise it's game and start their winning campaign from now on. Four losses in all the four games played is not what one would expect from this side, but has happened much because of their messiah’s absence. Bangalore on the other hand has proved it's worth up untill now and promises to be a strong contender for the title yet again. Bangalore looks a little thin in bowling and I suspect Delhi to utilize this weakness and power through to the victory mainly because of excellent form of Warner and Sehwag’s comeback.
