The T20 Blast 2019 is finally coming to an end and we have the Finals Day to look forward too. The second semi-final of the T20 blast Finals Day 2019 is going to be played between Derbyshire and Essex. Both these two teams won their quarter-final convincingly and will have their eye on the big prize.
The weather forecast for match day in Birmingham is excellent and we are not expected to have any sort of interruptions to the proceedings. The team that wins this match is going to be playing the final of the T20 Blast right after, which can be a big advantage over the team that has been waiting for its turn and needs to switch on again.
Derbyshire vs Essex T20 Blast 2019 semi-final is going to be played at Edgbaston, Birmingham on the 21st of September 2019.
It would be an honest observation that Derbyshire had the far easier of the quarter-final opponent when compared with Essex. Derbyshire had to get past Gloucestershire, a side that was very dependent on Michael Klinger to carry it through.
The Derbyshire bowing came good on the day and restricted Gloucestershire to just 135 runs. In return, almost all the Derbyshire top-order batsmen got starts and ensured they chased down the total without any hiccups.
The task against Essex is not going to be so easy.
Derbyshire is going to have to bat very well and hope that its senior players are able to rise to the occasion. The focus is going to be on Wayne Madsen and Billy Godleman but there are other good batsmen in the side as well.
Luis Reece, Leus de Plooy, and Alex Hughes are all capable of playing a match-winning inning.
There is no doubt, though, that the batting lineup is going to be tested against an Essex bowling lineup with Mohammad Amir in its midst.
Derbyshire’s own bowling lineup is a bit thin. Ravi Rampaul has struggled to reprise his best form and been quite expensive as well. Matthew Critchley will be the biggest threat to the Essex batting lineup.
Luis Reece, BA Godleman, WL Madsen, A Leus du Plooy, AL Hughes, MJJ Critchley, Fynn Hudson, Anuj Dal, D Smit, Logan van Beek, Ravi Rampaul.
Essex has been one of the stand out teams in the last few rounds of the T20 Blast 2019. It has peaked very nicely and seems to be barreling towards a T20 title. We think it has a better batting lineup than Derbyshire and the Essex bowling lineup is also going to put up a far better challenge.
The Essex side has the strength on paper and just needs to translate that into performance on the big day.
The batting is led by Tom Westley, Cameron Delport, Ryan Ten Dopeschate, Ravi Bopara, and Adam Wheater.
The biggest wickets in this match are going to be Westley and Delport. We are backing Cameron Delport to hit it big and make a telling contribution for Essex. Ryan Ten Doeschate top-scored with 45 not out in the quarter-final and has also been in very good form.
Of course, the performance of the quarter-final came from Ravi Bopara who scored 39 off just 18 balls and helped his side get to victory against a very strong Lancashire side.
Beating a team like Lancashire in the quarter-final is going to give Essex immense belief that they can win the big prize. Perhaps, they may include Mohammad Amir in this match to try and rip out some early Derbyshire wickets.
James Porter, Adam Zampa, Simon Harmer, and Ravi Bopara are the other players that will play a big role in the bowling department as well.
Tom Westley, C Delport, Adam Wheater, Dan Lawrence, RN ten Doeschate, RS Bopara, Paul Walter, SR Harmer, Aron Nijjar, Aaron Beard, Jamie Porter.

Derbyshire vs Essex T20 Blast 2019 semi-final is going to be played at Edgbaston, Birmingham on the 21st of September 2019. The weather forecast for the match is excellent and we should be bathed in sunshine for the duration of the match.
The pitch at Edgbaston is going to be flat and excellent for batting. This is going to be the second match of the day and a little bit of slowness can be expected to creep in. The Essex spinners will become more effective as the day goes on.
Dream 11 team and Dream11 prediction for Derbyshire vs Essex T20 Blast 2019. Player availability is always a big concern when it comes to the T20 Blast and so please make sure all your players picked are actually in the playing eleven on the day. We are favoring Essex in this contest and so have loaded our side with seven of their players.
We think Essex has the team to win this match. It batting lineup is as good as Derbyshire and the bowling much better. The presence of two quality spinners in the middle will make life difficult for Derbyshire as well.
Bet on Essex to win.
