It’s a clash between two teams at the opposite ends of the T20 Blast 2019 League table. Derbyshire is going to be taking on the defending champions Worcestershire as the teams begin their final third of the group stages.
Derbyshire has three wins from its eight matches and is 8th in the North group while Worcestershire has four wins from its eight matches and is third in the group table. These are the small margins of differences between the teams and no one can be counted out.
Derbyshire vs Worcestershire T20 Blast 2019 is going to be played at the County Ground, Derby on the 13th of August 2019.
A fantastic batting performance by Derbyshire in its previous match against Yorkshire was the reason for its win. The side managed to reach a total of 207 thanks to 66 from Wayne Madsen, 51 off just 23 balls from Leus de Plooy, and starts from all the other batsmen.
It was the best we have seen Derbyshire bat this season and it was a long time coming. The previous match has not been the template that most Derbyshire innings have followed. Wayne Madsen has struggled for runs up until now and maybe this good inning will help him get on a run-scoring spree.
Derbyshire will be hoping for more such batting performances from its leading players because Worcestershire is stacked in that department as well.
Having a giant total on the board makes things a lot easier for the bowlers. Logan van Beek picked up four wickets as the batsmen tried to target him while Luis Reece also ended up with some very decent figures.
We don’t think Derbyshire has a very strong bowling attack, though, and things might be a lot different against Worcestershire’s strong batting.
Luis Reece, BA Godleman, WL Madsen, A Leus du Plooy, MJJ Critchley, AL Hughes, D Smit, Fynn Hudson, Logan van Beek, WB Rankin, Ravi Rampaul.
There has been so much that has been said about the Worcestershire batting that it was a bit of a shock when it came undone against Leicestershire. Chasing 153 against one of the weaker sides in the North group should not have been a problem for Worcestershire but that is not how things panned out.
Storied batsmen like Martin Guptill, Rikki Wessels, Callum Ferguson, Wayne Parnell, and more were unable to get any sort of momentum in the inning. As a result, Worcestershire could only manage 119 in reply.
Like Derbyshire’s previous match, we don’t think this last inning is indicative of the true strength of the Worcestershire batting lineup and anyone underestimating it is in for a rude shock.
At least one or two of the Worcestershire batting lineup has been able to score the runs needed for the side to emerge victorious on most occasions and that is what we expect of them in this match as well.
Wayne Parnell and Patrick Brown are the two best bowlers of the side in our opinion although Dillon Pennington, Ed Barnard, and Daryll Mitchell are not bad either.
The defending champions of the T20 Blast had a bad outing last time around and they will just be hungrier to get back on track in this match.
Martin Guptill, Riki Wessels, Callum Ferguson, WD Parnell, Ben Cox, Ross Whiteley, Ed Barnard, Joe Leach, Daryl Mitchell, Dillon Pennington, Patrick Brown.

Derbyshire vs Worcestershire is going to be played at County Ground, Derby. The weather conditions for Derby on match day are expected to be nice and sunny. An uninterrupted match is likely and that should be a reason to celebrate in itself!
The batting conditions at Derby are pretty good. A lot of runs are going to be scored in this match between two in-form and strong batting sides. A total of 200 may not be safe to defend.
The home team has finally hit some nice batting form and that makes it dangerous but the quality on the Worcestershire side is just a bit too overwhelming. We think Worcestershire has an equally strong, if not stronger, batting and a decidedly better bowling attack.
Bet on Worcestershire to win.
