It's been some time since the inagural edition of T10 league was played and the league is now beginning to gain some traction. The third edition of the tournament is set to begin on November 14th with eight teams going against each other. All the matches will be played at the Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi.
With opening ceremony taking the full first day, 14th November, there are three matches set to be played on 15th. Deccan Gladiators will lock horns with Delhi Bulls in the second match of the day. Both the sides are stacked with some powerful strikers of the ball and it would be interesting to see how the two teams fare on the match day.
Loaded with a few of hardest strikers of the cricket ball in Shane Watson, Ben Cutting, and Keiren Pollard, the Gladiators do not have any weakness as far as hitting ability is concerned.
While they are a little light in the bowling department, they match-winners with the bat. In the bowling department, they have the likes of Zahoor Khan, Sheldon Cotrell to handle the bowling department.
All in all, the Gladiators have an apparent weakness in the bowling department, but they have a batting unit, which can certainly cover up for it. Toss could be an important factor for the Gladiators and it would be interesting to see the team combination they go in with in their first match on Friday.
Anton Devcich, SR Watson, M Shahzad, Bhanuka Rajapaksa, Ben Cutting, Migael Pretorius, Dan Lawrence, Zahir Khan, Fawad Ahmed, Mason Crane, Zahoor Khan.
Unlike Deccan Gladiators, who are a bit batting heavy, the Bulls have stars spread across their lineup. Led by Eoin Morgan, they have plenty of experience of playing in big matches.
The availability of all-rounders in Mohammad Nabi, Shoaib Malik, ad Sherfane Rutherford gives them the ability to go all-out with the bat without compromising on bowling prowess. Their batting will be shouldered by Tobias Viese, Eoin Morgan and Kusal Perera with the all-rounders expected to assist them.
On the bowling front, they have no dearth of skill with the availability of Muhammad Hasnain, Adil Rashid, Sohail Tanvir, and Ali Khan. They also have Zaheer Khan available at their disposal, who is more or less likely to play the role of a mentor.
All in all, the Bulls are one of the better-balanced sides of the tournament and are likely to give hard time to every team they face, let alone Deccan Gladiators.
Kusal Perera, PR Stirling, Eoin Morgan, Angelo Mathews, Muhammad Usman, David Willey, Z Khan, AU Rashid, Ali Khan, PVD Chameera, Ravi Rampaul.
These are early days in the tournament and no team has played a match in the tournament yet and therefore, it is difficult to comment on the form of the two teams. Having said that, comparing the two teams on paper is pretty easy. The Bulls have a well-balanced all-round unit led by Eoin Morgan. On the contrary, the Gladiators are a little batting-heavy. Considering the balance of the two sides, the Bulls are better placed to emerge on top in the upcoming fixture.
