About the Match
The Bulls defeated the Vikings by 8 wickets in today’s match thereby taking them through to the next round with 12 points from 9 matches so far; they will play against Dynamites, who have only 8 points till now after suffering losses recently, on 10th December at Dhaka. The Bulls have been performing very well on the field proving to be a tough unit to crack; they will definitely try to win the upcoming match by a huge margin so that they are catapulted to the top of the table. Dynamites on the other hand will be demoralized after their recent defeat against Super Stars but they won’t give up without a fight here on Thursday.
Chris Gayle is back to his smashing form as he scored an unbeaten 92 off 47 deliveries to take his team safely home during the chase for 136 runs against the Vikings. He showered fours and sixes at will and made mincemeat of bowlers like Mendis, Asif Ahmed and Bhatti. He received good support from the other end in the company of Mehedi Maruf and Mahmudullah who added quick runs to keep the scoreboard ticking and finishing the match with 5 overs to spare.
Cooper, Mohammad Sami and Al-Amin Hossain took regular wickets against Vikings to restrict them to 135 runs; along with Taijul Islam, Sohag Gazi and Mahmudullah, they have a strong bowling attack that might be an advantage against the Dynamites, who are struggling at the moment.
Overall, with Gayle in the batting line-up, the Bulls will be eager to continue with their smashing performance with the bat; with an in-form bowling and good fielding skills, they definitely look better placed to win the match.
The Dynamites fell to the fourth place with their recent defeats; after an initial rise in their rankings just a few days back, they will have to win this crucial match to keep their hopes alive. Batting first against Super Stars, Sangakkara posted a heroic 48 runs off 35 deliveries to steer the innings towards a competitive total; he received good support from Farhad Reza and Nasir Hossain down the order. However, the scored of 157 wasn’t enough for the bowlers to win the match, as they struggled with line and length, giving away too many easy runs to the opposition.
Mustafizur Rahmam has been phenomenal but hasn’t been that successful with the wickets; Farhad Reza continues to provide the regular breakthroughs but the others like Abul Hasan and Mosharraf Hossain must pull up their socks in the upcoming match.
They might be demoralised at the moment, but they need to fight back for their pride here; Sangakkara remains an inspiration for the team and it needs to be seen if this great legend can yet again take his team through to victory on Thursday.
While Dynamites are on their back foot here, they have the resources and skills to bounce back again; the contest could swing either way but we feel that the Bulls are supercharged right now and look good. Dhaka need a much needed victory and we think Sangakkara will come good again and win the match for them
