About the Match
Rajshahi Kings defeated Sylhet Sixers by 7 wickets in the last game to move to the 5th position with 4 points; they will take on table-toppers Dhaka Dynamites, who have 7 points in their bag, on 18th November at Dhaka. The Dynamites’ last match was abandoned due to rain and previously they have registered 3 wins consecutively; they will be eager to go back to their winning ways on Saturday. Rajshahi Kings, on the other hand, toiled hard to earn their second victory of the season and will be determined to continue with their winning momentum.
Chasing 157 against Khulna Titans caused some hiccups for the Dynamites’ top-order as they lost 4 wickets in the first five overs; wicket-keeper batsman Jahurul Islam then steadied the innings with a well-made 45 while hard-hitter Kieron Pollard came out smashing 55 off just 24. With help from Shakib-Al-Hasan and Mosaddek Hossein, they successfully reached the target to win by 4 wickets. Earlier spinners Shahid Afridi and Shakib-Al-Hasan dismissed one opponents each while speedster Abu Hider Rony claimed 2 wickets to restrict Titans to 156.
Against Sylhet Sixers, Afridi and Sunil Narine put up a ruthless spin attack, taking 7 wickets between them to stifle the opponents at 101. Abu Hider Rony also provided 2 breakthroughs, and the batsmen then easily gunned down the target in just 8 overs. Evin Lewis posted an unbeaten 44 off 18 while Afridi showcased his all-rounder skills, scoring 37 off 17 deliveries.
They are a power-packed outfit with match-winners like Sunil Narine, Shahid Afridi, Kieron Pollard, Shakib-Al-Hasan and Evin Lewis, who make the Dynamites a formidable force to reckon with.
Rajshahi Kings registered their second win of the series by successfully chasing down 147 runs against Sylhet Sixers in their last encounter. While Monimul Haque and Rony Talukdar set a good foundation of a 97-run opening partnership, Zakir Hasan posted a brilliant half-century from just 26 deliveries to steer the team towards victory by 7 wickets. Earlier, the pacers did a good job of containing the opponents as Mehidy Hasan, Kesrick Williams, James Franklin and Mohammad Sami provided regular breakthroughs. Samit Patel also dismissed one opponent with his spin attack, and they are in good form to repeat the winning performance again.
However, against Comilla Victorians previously, the batting line-up collapsed like a pack of card while setting a target, and they could muster only 115 runs. Lendl Simmons posted 40 off 23 before getting retired hurt while Farhad Reza fought a lone battle scoring 25 runs to get them to a humble total. The bowlers showed some hope but they couldn’t stop the in-form Victorians from winning.
The bowling unit has many pace options with players like Sami, Mehidy Hasan, Reza, Williams and Franklin, who can come up with a clever strategy to outwit the Dynamites here.
While Dhaka Dynamites have been on a winning spree, Rajshahi Kings have boosted their morale with the recent victory to their name and will be eager to repeat the good show here. However, we feel that the Dynamites with the home advantage and an in-form batting unit, are better placed to emerge victorious on Saturday.
