The Riders defeated Khulna Titans by 19 runs after they successfully defended 147; they will be determined to keep their momentum going when they meet Dynamites on Wednesday. When the two teams met recently, the Dynamites suffered a shocking loss by 3 runs after failing to chase down a humble 143 runs; it will be interesting to see which side triumphs on Wednesday.
Joe Denly and Sunil Narine built a solid foundation of 129 runs, opening the innings against Rajshahi Kings; while Denly scored 53, Narine posted 69 off 34 and Kieron Pollard kept the scoreboard ticking by scoring 33 runs, taking the total to 205. Captain Shakib Al Hasan took 4-8 to stifle the opposition while Mosaddek Hossain and Saddam Hossain took 2 wickets each, helping them win the match by 99 runs.
They suffered a loss against Comilla Victorians by 12 runs after failing to chase down 168 runs as players like Sunil Narine, Shakib Al Hasan and Evin Lewis fell cheaply. Joe Denly fought a lone battle at the top scoring 49 runs but it wasn’t enough to take them across the finish line. Earlier, speedster Kevon Cooper took 3-42 while Shakib Al Hasan dismissed 2 opponents to restrict the Victorians to 167.
The Dynamites have done well to stay at the top of the table and will leave no stone unturned to keep the winning momentum going.
Chris Gayle bounced back to form as he posted 38 off 27 while batting first against Titans; Mohammad Mithun played a useful knock, scoring a half-century off 35. They took the total to 147 and the bowlers then struck hard to stop the Titans from reaching the target. Ravi Bopara took 2 wickets in 2 overs while Nazmul Islam, Nahidul Islam, Isuru Udana and spinner Sohag Gazi took a wicket each to win the match by 19 runs.
Against Victorians, the batsmen were outwitted completely as they could get only to 97 runs batting first. Brendon McCullum posted 24 off 31 while Mohammad Mithun scored 17 runs. But others were dismissed early, leading to a total collapse. Mashrafe Mortaza took 3 wickets while Nahidul Islam dismissed 2 opponents, but they couldn’t stop Victorians from hitting the winning runs.
The Riders are close to making it to the knock-out stage and will be determined to come out all guns blazing in the upcoming game.
When they met earlier, Rangpur Riders had won the match by 3 runs in a thrilling finish, and they have resources to do so again. The Riders are in good form and they will pose a tough challenge, but we feel that the Dynamites with their strong batting lineup will post yet another victory in the tournament
