After three weeks of an enthralling battle between eight lasting for 28 matches, we finally have the top-four teams in the 2019 edition of Tamil Nadu Premier League. As was expected, Dindigul Dragons were class apart throughout the competition and consequently finished at the top of the table. Chepauk Super Gillies didn't do bad either, and thanks to a win in their last encounter and eventually finished second at the ladder. The first and second-placed teams, which are Dindigul Dragons and Chepauk Super Gillies respectively, are set to meet each other in the first qualifier of the Tamil Nadu Premier League. The winner of the match will progress directly to the grand finale whereas the losing team will have to face the winner of the first eliminator in the second playoff. These two teams have done exceedingly well in the tournament so far, and this contest between the two sides is going to be a cracker of a contest.

Dindigul Dragons
The points table at the end of the league stage clearly reflects who is the best team of the tournament so far. At the end of the league stage, Dindigul Dragons finished at the top spot, thanks to the flawless cricket they played over the course of three weeks.
Batting has done splendidly well for Dindigul Dragons in the tournament throughout. N Jagadeesan has been the pick of their batsmen, who single-handedly took them across the line on multiple occasions. Ravichandran Ashwin's decision to bat at number three proved to be a masterstroke as he not only did well but also provided balance and depth to their batting-lineup.
They continued to build on their brilliant form in their last match as well wherein N Jagadeesan, and Hari Nishanth took their side to a seven-wicket win. All in all, there's hardly been anything which has gone wrong for the Dragons. They have an exceptionally well-balanced team which has been difficult to defeat in the tournament so far. Considering how well they've done in the competition so far, it's not going to be easy for any side to defeat them in any of their matches going forward.

Chepauk Super Gillies
Barring their first match of the season wherein, they lost to Dindigul Dragons in a low-scoring contest and their game against Siechem Madurai Panthers, Chepauk Super Gillies have been terrific in this tournament. They finished the league stage at the second spot with ten points to their name.
In their last match, Chepauk Super Gillies rode high on their bowlers' performance who did an excellent job of defending an under-par total put by their batsmen. Up until their match against Madurai Panthers, Chepauk Super Gillies had done wonderfully well with the bat, but their batting seems to be losing steam in the last two games. They couldn't chase down the target set by Madurai Panthers and folded for just 127 runs in their previous match, against TUTI Patriots.
Defending such a low total would have been impossible on most days, but Chepauk Super Gillies' bowlers bowled well as per the plan and restricted TUTI Patriots for just 95, winning the match by 32 runs. Returning from injury, Vijay Shankar didn't have a good day with the bat but would be pretty relieved with his bowling performance. He is going to be a key figure in the playoffs for the Super Gillies.

It wasn't surprising to see Chepauk Super Gillies and Dindigul Dragons finish at the top of the table. They were two of the best teams on paper, and they replicated the same on the field to perfection. The earlier battle between the two sides resulted in a landslide win for the Dragons and comparing the strengths and weaknesses of the two sides; they still start as the favorites.
