The Vijay Hazare Trophy is one of the elite domestic competitions in India. It is the 50-over format and the group stages brought out some truly excellent performances. It is time now for the teams to get serious as the knockout stages of the tournament start.
The first pre-quarterfinal is going to be played between Delhi and Uttarakhand. Every team that has reached this level would have had an excellent group stage and these two teams are no different. While Delhi has lost just one match so far, Uttarakhand is unbeaten!
The two teams play in groups that have teams of very different quality, though.
Delhi vs Uttarakhand Vijay Hazare Trophy 2021 is going to be played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi on the 7th of March 2021.
Delhi is going to be headlined by Shikhar Dhawan in this match. He is the player that everyone is going to be looking at because his exploits in the ODI format for India are very well-known. He has shown an ability to be able to score in knockout matches and so this is the time for him to shine.
Dhruv Shorey, Nitish Rana, and Himmat Singh are some of the other bowlers that are going to be in the playing eleven. This is a strong batting lineup that is in good form and has shown an ability to set or chase down big scores against some excellent bowling attacks.
Delhi’s own bowling could use a bit of improvement. Simranjeet Singh, Pradeep Sangwan, and Kulwant Khejroliya are the three frontline bowlers with Shivank Vashisht and the all-rounders to back them up.
There is a lack of a quality spinner and the fast-bowlers can be quite expensive as well.
Playing at their home ground is a big advantage, though.
Dhruv Shorey, Manjot Kalra, Himmat Singh, Nitish Rana, Kshitiz Sharma, Lalit Yadav, Anuj Rawat, Shivank Vashisht, PJ Sangwan, Simarjeet Singh, K Khejroliya.
Uttarakhand has reached this stage of the Vijay Hazare trophy with five wins in five matches and so it cannot be taken lightly. It has, however, been playing against some pretty weak teams so far.
That is not Uttarakhand’s fault but it is now up against a completely different level of team altogether.
Their batting is decent with the likes of Kamal Singh, Jay Bista, Kunal Chandela, and Saurabh Rawat forming the top-order. The middle and lower order batsmen can also contribute, however, they may find the going tough against the Delhi bowling attack.
The bowling attack is also quite weak. Iqbal Abdulla is the leading bowler of the side with others like Samad Fallah, Akash Madhwal, and Agrim Tiwari a part of the attack. This is not a bowling unit that is going to give the Delhi players any sleepless nights.
The advantage that Uttarakhand has that it has a number of players that can contribute with the ball if needed.
Kamal Singh, Jay Bista, Kunal Chandela, Saurabh Rawat, Dikshanshu Negi, Iqbal Abdulla, Vaibhav Bhatt, Sunny Rana, Mayank Mishra, Akash Madhwal, Samad Fallah.
The team that wins the toss is going to want to bat first and get as many runs as it can on the board. Batting first should be seen as a big advantage.

There is no threat of rain in Delhi and so we should get a full match uninterrupted. The pitch is going to be very good for batting, no doubt about that. There is going to be very little for the bowlers and the bounce is going to be on the lower side.
Spinners may get some purchase from the surface but overall the batsmen are going to enjoy the conditions much more.
We think 300 is definitely on the cards batting first.
We have absolutely no hesitation in backing Delhi to win this match. They have a stronger batting lineup, more experience in their lineup, and are playing in home conditions.
Bet on Delhi to win.
Our Favorite Bet
Delhi Top Batsman - Himmat Singh ($4.25) (Betway)
We think Himmat Singh has a great chance of emerging as the best batsman after the match is over. He is in great form and is likely to bat in the top-3. He may not have the same class as someone like Shikhar Dhawan but he is going to take fewer risks and be hungrier to get a big score. The return makes it well worth the risk.
