After a successful Momentum One Day Cup, Cricket South Africa is all set to organize their premier domestic T20 competition, CSA T20 Challenge. The tournament will begin with Titans taking on Knights. The second match of the tournament will be played between the Dolphins and the Cobras on the same day, that is 19th February, at Kingsmead Oval, Durban.
Led by Keshav Maharaj, the Dolphins are certainly one of the most experienced sides in the tournament. With the likes of David Miller, Robbie Frylinck, Andile Phehlukwayo, and Keshav Maharaj, the Dolphins have players who can turn the game around in a matter of minutes. Besides, they put up a decent show in the One Day Cup and would want to use the form to their advantage.
Even though the Dolphins are rich in experience, they lack the firepower with the bat. Barring David Miller, who seems to be in incredible touch, the Dolphins do not have anyone to rely upon to get them off to solid starts. Grant Roelofsen has been doing good and will be the one to watch out for. The major strength of Dolphins is certainly their middle and lower-middle order. With the presence of many versatile all-rounders, the Dolphins have an immaculately balanced side.
With the ball, the Dolphins are rich in experience. The likes of Robbie Frylinck, Prenelan Subrayen, Andile Phehlukwayo, and Keshav Maharaj have proven their mettle time and again. With the variety that the Dolphins have in their bowling lineup, they could be a difficult team to score against. If the youngsters can get Dolphins off to good starts with the bat frequently, they can prove to be the team to beat this year.
Grant Roelofsen, David Miller, Sarel Erwee, Khaya Zondo, Andile Phehlukwayo, Senuran Muthusamy, Robbie Frylinck, P Subrayen, K Maharaj, D Dupavillon, Kerwin Mungroo.
With South Africa's international stars back from Pakistan's tour, the Cobras have certainly gained some strength as compared to the team they had in the Momentum One Day Cup. They did fairly well in the recently concluded One Day cup as they qualified for the semi-finals before ending their campaign.
They have some incredible strength in the batting department with the likes of Janneman Malan, Tony de Zorzi, and Zubayr Hamza available. Besides, the presence of a solid all-rounder in George Linde adds to their balance. Considering that it is a twenty-overs match, the Cobras seem to be having enough firepower with the bat to score any sort of total against any bowling attack.
With the ball, however, the Cobras certainly lack the sharpness they would have liked to have. Barring George Linde, most of their bowlers seem to be a bit too inexperienced and that could cost them in crunch situations. All in all, batting is certainly a stronger suit for Six Gun Grill Cape Cobras and if their bowlers can do well, the Cobras will be in business.
Tony de Zorzi, Zubayr Hamza, Kyle Verreynne, JF Smith, Christiaan Jonker, George Linde, Onke Nyaku, Calvin Savage, Corbin Bosch, Imran Manack, Siyabonga Mahima.
The two teams have an altogether different kind of combination and are likely to come in with contrasting plans. While Six Gun Grill Cape Cobras are batting heavy, the Hollywoodbets Dolphins are rich in their bowling department. Given that the Dolphins have a strong all-rounder contingent and more experience available, they certainly have an edge. For that reason, we are placing our money on a Dolphins win and so should you.
