DOL vs KTS Match Prediction & Betting Tips - Mar 02, 2019

The Knights are now the only team in the Momentum Cup 2019 that is still winless. They came in their previous game against the Warriors but that was a rain-affected encounter that went the way of the Warriors.

The Knights are going to be taking on a team that won three out of its four matches and is sitting at second position on the Momentum Cup 2019 League Table right now. The Dolphins are a very strong team and have some of the most in-form South African internationals in their side.

It is not at all difficult to see the Dolphins be title contenders and perhaps even winners of the Momentum ODI Cup 2019 this year.

DOL vs KTS Team Previews

Dolphins

The Dolphins have had four days off since their last match and will be well rested. They suffered their first loss of the tournament against the Warriors in that match. It was another rain-hit encounter that went the way of the chasing side.

To be fair though, the Dolphins put in a poor batting performance and probably did not deserve to win that match either way.

The Dolphins batting lineup is very strong. It not only contains some renowned international players but also has some of the top domestic performers to help augment the side.

Sarel Erwee, Vaughn Van Jaarsveld, and Khaya Zondo are three domestic players that have been close to the South African squad for quite some time now. All three of the players are very dangerous batsmen. Neither of them had a good outing in the previous match but we expect them to bounce back quickly.

The bulk of the runs were scored by David Miller, Dane Vilas, and Andile Phehlukwayo. David Miller has terrorized bowlers around the world in both T20 cricket and international leagues. His international ODI record is not as impressive as he would have liked but we can't imagine South African squad being named without him being in it.

Andile Phehlukwayo has elevated his game to a whole new level over the last few months. Not only has his bowling improved but his batting has also become much more reliable. His current performances are going to give a huge boost to South Africa ahead of the ICC World Cup 2019.

With a batting lineup like this, it is not going to be too often that the Dolphins fail to get enough runs on the board.

Imran Tahir and Andile Phehlukwayo lead the bowling lineup for the Dolphins. They have some inexperienced bowlers around them and thus have to lead the way. Tahir is one bowler that we are watching very closely as he could be a vital part of the South African squad for the ICC World Cup 2019.

Khulna Titans

A patient inning from Keegan Peterson almost won the Knights the match against the Warriors in their previous match but they eventually short by 14 runs on DLS calculations. The Knights have struggled in the Momentum ODI Cup 2019 and it is pretty easy to see why.

They do not have the batting depth that a lot of the other teams are able to call upon. Grant Mokoena, Andries Gous, Keegan Peterson, and Petrus van Biljon are not household names by any stretch of the imagination.

They have talent, ye, but they are not yet the finished article and are not knocking on the door of the selectors either.

Ryan McLaren is batting in the middle order and he is a pretty decent bat. He is still not someone that the opposition is going to be too worried about. The Knights need one of their young guns to stand up and be counted otherwise they are going to have a very tough time in the tournament.

If the batting is not going to win them matches then the Knights must look towards their bowling to do the job. Merchant de Lange and Eddie Leie are once again the only two bowlers that are really capable of picking wickets in clusters.

Budaza, Kruger, McLaren, and van Schalkwyk are decent bowlers without being overly threatening. This is, in fact, the theme of the Knights right now. They are a side with promise and hope without being too threatening.

The best hope that the Knights have of winning seems to be through the opposition taking them lightly and not concentrating hard enough.

Khulna Titans Playing 11

Grant Mokoena, AGS Gous, Keegan Petersen, PJ van Biljon, RS Second, Patrick Kruger, Ryan McLaren, Shadley van Schalkwyk, Marchant de Lange, Eddie Leie, Mbulelo Budaza.

Pitch and Conditions

The Momentum Cup ODI 2019 match between the Dolphins and the Knights is going to be played at Kingsmead, Durban. There is some rain that is forecast on match day and it looks like we are going to have another DLS affected match.

The conditions in Durban are always quite good for cricket. The batsmen enjoy the bounce and pace that the surface offers while the bowlers find enough in the pitch to be interested also. The rain and humidity might just mean a little additional help for the bowlers than is usual.

DOL vs KTS Betting Tips

The rain can make things difficult to predict because DLS calculation can change the very nature of the game. Purely on the basis of the two sides, though, the Dolphins should be able to win this match with considerable ease and that is what we are recommending.

Back the Dolphins to win.
