Lions had a terrible outing in the recently concluded Momentum One Day Cup and even though their lineup suits the shortest format of the game, they haven't been able to turn their fortunes around in CSA T20 Challenge. We are just four games into the tournament and the Dolphins are already looking threatening with a bowling lineup that looks in fabulous form. While the Dolphins are in excellent form, the Lions have often trumped them in the shortest format of the game. There will be battles inside the battles in the upcoming fixture and we expect it to be a cracker of a contest.
Dolphins were lucky to escape with a win in their first match where their bowlers got them across after their batsmen failed to impress in their opening match, against Knights. With the services of veteran Morne van Wyk and young Sarel Erwee and Khaya Zondo, the Dolphins have a good amalgamation of youth and experience.
Morne van Wyk was their pick of the batsmen last year and a lot will be riding on him for Dolphins to do well. Barring Marques Ackermann, who stayed unbeaten till the very end for his 44, none of their batsmen could get going. While the likes of Zondo, Erwee, and van Wyk are expected to do well, it certainly won't be easy.
Their bowling, however, did extremely well in the last match where Subrayen picked up three crucial wickets at the expense of just 15 runs. Keshav Maharaj has produced some exceptional spells of spin bowling in his last few games and will be looking to continue to build on his form. With spinners known to play a crucial role in the shortest format of the game, Dolphins will be counting on Maharaj to keep things tight in the middle overs.
Sarel Erwee, Mv Wyk, C Chetty, Khaya Zondo, Marques Ackerman, Sibonelo Makhanya, Robbie Frylinck, K Maharaj, P Subrayen, Lwandiswa Zuma, D Dupavillon.
Lions had a forgetful campaign in the recently concluded One Day Cup and they will be looking to shrug that off and get amongst the wins quickly. They are already one match down in the tournament and although they will still have a chance should they lose the upcoming encounter, a win would definitely put them in a better position.
Consisting of the likes of Rassie van der Dussen and Reeza Hendricks, the Lions have a power-packed batting lineup what is not only full-on exuberance but also pretty experienced. They both did exceedingly well when the last time Lions met Dolphins and the memories of the hammering might still well be fresh in Dolphins' bowlers' minds.
Additionally, Ryan Rickelton smashed a brilliant half-century in the opening match of the season, against Cape Cobras and was instrumental in getting Lions off to a strong start.
Although their bowling is a little light as compared to their batting, at least on paper, it is still decent nonetheless. Bjorn Fortuin, Dwaine Pretorius, and Beuran Hendricks have plenty of experience behind them and won't really crack under pressure easily. All in all, the Lions' T20 outfit looks solid especially with Reeza Hendricks returning to the top.
Ryan Rickelton, Reeza Hendricks, RVD Dussen, Temba Bavuma, Wihan Lubbe, Dwaine Pretorius, PWA Mulder, Bjorn Fortuin, Aaron Phangiso, MP Siboto, B Hendricks.
Considering how Ryan Rickleton did in the previous match and his cost in terms of credits, he walks into our Dream11 side and is definitely a more value-for-money pick as compared to the other keepers.
The two South African internationals have been in fine form right throughout this season and are, therefore, captain and vice-captains respectively of our side.
It was hard to drop the likes of Andile Phehlukwayo and Mulder, but our other all-rounder picks were more economical. Same is the case with the bowling as well. Maharaj, Hendricks, and Subrayen are doing well of-late and form the bowling unit of our team. Check below are complete Dream11 lineup for the Dolphins vs Lions clash:

If it was a 50-over encounter between the two sides, we would have been talking about the mismatch and gap these two sides have between them. However, the change in the format has bridged the gap between the two sides. Also, with the return of Reeza Hendricks into the reckoning has certainly made Lions' batting lineup stronger. Although the Lions had a poor last match and Dolphins ended up on the right side of the result, we think that the Lions are better placed to win the upcoming encounter. This is largely because of the experience they have and their on-paper well-balanced lineup.
