Dolphins

The Dolphins were winless in the previous season, and aren’t in a much better shape this time too. After winning their opening match of the season, the Dolphins are now sitting on 3 consecutive losses, and look pretty low on confidence at the moment.

Bradley Porteous and Jason Smith by far have been the best batsmen within the squad and have lent good support to the middle order. Smith has also been pretty decent with his medium pacers, picking up 4 wickets so far. However, it is the top order that has failed the team, as Tshepang Dithole, JJ Smuts, or Grant Roelofsen have been able to get a big inning this season.

The bowling effort has been average too, as only Andile Phehlukwayo has been able to pick up wickets with some consistency. Smuts and Eathan Bosch, while being economical, have failed to pick wickets at regular intervals.

Overall, just like their opponents, the Dolphins too are having a rough season.

Warriors

The Warriors endured one of the worst possible starts to the tournament, losing each of its first 3 games of the competition. However, they did bounce back in their latest outing, defeating the Western Provinces by 6 wickets on Wednesday.

Chasing a modest total of 156, the Warriors never really looked in any sort of trouble. Diego Rosier and Matthew Breetzke scored excellent half-centuries to put up a 58-run stand for the 4th wicket, which saw their team achieve the target in 31 overs and with 6 wickets to spare.

Tristan Stubbs has been in good touch and is the leading run-scorer for the Warriors with 209 runs. However, the other top-order batsmen, including Jordan Hermann and Wihan Lubbe haven’t been consistent enough. Ziyaad Abrahams has bowled well for his 10 wickets this season so far and has received good support from Beyers Swanepoel and Akhona Mnyaka.

However, the other bowlers have failed to keep things tight, allowing the opposition batsmen to score runs freely.
