About the Match
The Dolphins have emerged as a strong contender for the title here as they take on Cape Cobras in the Semi-Final match of the Ram Sam T20 challenge, to be held at Durban on 9th December. The last time these two teams faced each other, the Dolphins won by 8 wickets after chasing down 143 runs with ease; they will definitely try to give a stronger performance and win this important match. The Cobras on the other hand lost two games in a row recently and they will be eager to make a comeback with a win here that takes them through to the finals; it need to be seen which team will overcome the challenges and emerge victorious to take on the Titans in the finals.
In the last game against Cobras, Engelbrecht and Maharaj took 2 wickets each to cause heavy upsets for the opponent; Bravo, Myoli and Phehlukwayo took one scalp each to restrict them to 142 runs. Morne van Wyk led the team from the front as he scored 60 off 52 to see the team avenge its earlier defeat against the Cobras. Delport and Vandiar contributed well with the bat and they will definitely try their best to repeat the performance here.
They had lost the game against Knights in a humiliating way after the batting line-up was all-out for just 82 runs on board; Engelbrecht and Maharaj tried to turn the imminent result of the game but in vain. The top order must get to the grind and stabilize the innings if they want to give the bowlers a chance to fight.
Overall, they have done well all through the league and they will definitely do their best to reach the finals; having the confidence from their previous win over Cobras, Dolphins look well-placed to win.
They lost two games recently, and one was against the same opponent Dolphins, who they are taking on in the next game. Wayne Parnell is in good form with the bat as he scored an unbeaten 74 off 60 balls against the Warriors and some useful 27 runs against Dolphins; however his efforts went in vain as the others in the batting line-up gave up to easily. Justin Ontong has done well but needs to be consistent; Kevin Pietersen must step up and try to get the scoreboard ticking with his hard-hitting skills whereas the youngsters must use this opportunity to shine here.
Shezi was phenomenal with a 5-wicket haul against Warriors; his pace and tactics can outwit the opposition to help the team win matches. Peterson, Kleinveldt, Kemp and Parnell bring variety to the attack and they do well as a unit on the field.
The competition will be fierce on Wednesday but the Cobras have the resources and skills to overcome Dolphins yet again provided they stay positive and focused on the end goals.
While Dolphins definitely have the psychological advantage here coming at the back of a tremendous win against the Cobras in the last game, they must remember their poor run against them not so long back. The contest is surely going to be a tough challenge for both teams but we feel that the Cobras will emerge victorious on Wednesday
