About the Match
The Dindigul Dragons will be taking on the Chepauk Super Gillies in what is a must win game for them in this competition. The Gillies are in a strong second position in the table but will want to win this match and remove any chance of another team leapfrogging them as the final round of matches is played out.
The Dindigul Dragons are sitting on 5 from their six matches so far and only a win will give them any hope of making it to the final four. It is not going to be easy against the Gillies, a team that has only lost one match in the entire season so far.
The Dragons have struggled on the batting front with their star from last season, N Jagadeesan struggling badly this time around. Sridhar Raju and Subramania Silva have been the top scorers for the Dragons but neither has scored enough runs to prove their team a strong total in most matches.
This is the last chance for the Dindigul batsmen to stand up and make a difference.
In T Natarajan, Dindigul has one of the finds of domestic cricket to lead their bowling attack. Unfortunately, even after bowling exceptionally well throughout the tournament, he cannot seem to get the support needed from his teammates.
Natarajan has taken 7 wickets in the tournament so far at 5.26 runs per over and been brilliant with his cutters at the death. Dindigul will need a match winning performance from him to stay alive.
The most wickets for Dindigul, 8, have been taken by MS Sanjay, however, he has been prone to get hit for boundaries much too often.
Chepauk Super Gillies
Gopinath and Sargunam continue to have an excellent tournament for the Gillies as they run through oppositions. Their place in the final four has been confirmed and they will, in all likelihood, finish second to have two chances of making the finals.
Apart from Gopinath and Sargunam, Antony Dhas, S Karthik, and Sasidev have also contributed with the bat. The Chepauk Super Gillies have some real depth in their batting order and look like the only team that could challenge the TUTI Patriots in the knockout stages of this tournament.
Even more impressive than the Gillies batting has been their bowling led by Sai Kishore, our favorite bowler of the tournament, and R Sathish.
Sai Kishore has 11 wickets to his name at an economy rate of 5.91. He also has five wicket haul to his name and can bowl at any time in the inning. Veteran Yo Mahesh is also having a good tournament after having taken 7 wickets to his name so far.
The only thing that Chepauk needs to guard against is complacency.
Pitch and Conditions
Dindigul is not the minefield it was last year but run scoring has become increasing ly difficult here as well. We think a score of 150 will be very competitive on this pitch. The weather forecast for this match is not good though with plenty of rain and even thunderstorms being predicted.
