England dominated Australia in the second T20 international and locked up the series 2-0. One can even say that this win against Australia was easier than the one they managed against Pakistan. Now, with the series done and dusted, Jos Buttler has made himself unavailable for the final match and Eoin Morgan might be out injured.
Could that leave the door open for an Aussie victory?
Australia should have won the first T20 international but was very poor in the second match. We may see a few changes to the team to try and get the balance right. England will want to get a 3-0 victory to gain a psychological edge over the Aussies ahead of the ODI’s while the visitors will be very keen to at least get one victory under their name.
England vs Australia 3rd T20 2020 is going to be played at the Rose Bowl, Southampton on the 8th of September 2020.
England dominated the second T20 international thanks to some smashing performances from its senior players. Its best player so far, though, is not going to be available for the final match. Jos Buttler has cited ‘personal reasons’ to miss the third T20.
In his absence, Tom Banton will get a chance to bat up the order. He was very impressive against Pakistan and will enjoy the move back up the order. It will also open up a place in the middle-order for Sam Billings, another player that scored runs against Pakistan.
The situation for England could become a bit more problematic if Eoin Morgan is not available as well. He had a finger injury and could choose to rest from the final match now that the series is won.
Joe Denly is the only reserve batsman in the squad and so he might come in. Denly is talented but he is nowhere close to being the same quality as Morgan.
England’s bowling has been very impressive so far.
Jofra Archer and Mark Wood have bowled with real fire while Tom Curran has been excellent in the death. Adil Rashid has already managed to turn a match around in the space of a few overs and Chris Jordan was referred to as England’s best-ever white-ball bowler by Morgan after the first match.
All the bases seem to be well-covered and there is no doubt that England is going to be able to make life difficult for Australian batsmen no matter what the match situation.
Jonny Bairstow, Dawid Malan, Tom Banton, Sam Billings, Joe Denly, Moeen Ali, Jofra Archer, AU Rashid, Tom Curran, Chris Jordan, Mark Wood.
The Aussies have seemed a bit shell-shocked in the series so far. Their batsmen have been hit by extreme pace and have not had too many answers. Their own bowlers have struggled to answer in the same vein and got punished by the English batsmen.
We would not count out the Aussies just yet, though. The contest with England is going to be much more even now that Buttler is not playing.
Australia changed the batting order around a bit in the previous match and gave Alex Carey a chance to bat up the order. That is something he does regularly for his BBL side with ease. On this occasion, though, he seemed uncomfortable against the pace he was facing and threw away his wicket.
Steve Smith at three might be a much better option. It also has to be questioned whether Marcus Stoinis is the answer to Australia’s problems in the middle-order. Marnus Labuschagne could bat up the order and shift Carey back down.
It appears, though, that Australia is uncomfortable playing both Smith and Labuschagne in its T20 side.
The Australian batting needs to play more freely and fearlessly. David Warner and Aaron Finch need to take the attack to the English bowlers while the rest that follow need to be smarter.
Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins, and Kane Richardson looked rusty in their previous matches. That is to be expected after such a long layoff and that is why we would not read too much into their lack of effectiveness so far. They are class bowlers and will come back strongly in this match.
Maybe dropping one spinner and adding a batsman could be the tweak that Australia is looking for in its team.
Aaron Finch, Matthew Wade, Marcus Stoinis, Steven Smith, Glenn Maxwell, Mitchell Marsh, Ashton Agar, Mitchell Starc, KW Richardson, Adam Zampa, JR Hazlewood.
It appears as if England is more comfortable batting second while Australia wants to bat first so that is the likely outcome no matter who wins the toss.

The weather in Southampton has been very good for cricket and the forecast is promising more of the same. We should have no rain interruptions and get another cracking day for cricket. The pitch at Southampton has been quick and offered something for the fast-bowlers.
The bounce in the surface is something that keeps both sides interested at all points during the game. We like the dimensions of the ground as well because a six is a genuinely powerful shot. Scores of around 160 have been competitive and that may go up a tiny bit now that the players are used to the conditions at the ground.

England has been the superior team in the series so far but we believe the lineups for the third T20 are much more evenly matches. No Buttler and maybe no Morgan means that Australia’s batting is going to be just as strong as what England has. Australia’s bowling did very well against England in the first match and picked up some quick wickets in the second one as well.
We can see them getting their act together and winning the third match for sure.
Bet on Australia to win.
Aaron FInch and David Warner have not been able to fire like we know they can. This is the third match they will be playing and we think they will have the measure of the conditions and the England bowlers. ALso, England is without Jos Buttler so it may not get off to the same kind of rapid start that we have see it do so far.
As one of the most consistent batsmen in T20 history ( at comparable points in his career with other batsmen), Dawid Malan is making a strong case to be an England T20 first choice batsman. He is in good form during this series and is perfectly placed to be able to get another big score. His role is going to be more important without Buttler in the team and a return of close to 4x is a good deal in our opinion. Worth a punt for sure.
This is a very good betting opportunity in our opinion. Two of the best fast bowlers in the world on a pitch that has provided them pace and bounce to work with. You think they would take a wicket each in most matches especially since the batsmen cannot really play them out. This is our favorite bet of the match considering the likelihood of winning and the return that you get.
