Australia managed to breach the England bastion of Edgbaston in the previous match as it crushed the home side by 251 runs. The story of the match was the brilliance of Steve Smith who showed his mastery over the art of batting and almost single-handedly saved Australia from ruin in the first inning.
England was hampered by the loss of James Anderson to injury on the first day itself. It put the pressure on its all-rounders to step up to fill the void but that did not happen. There have been a couple of important changes made to the squad for the second Ashes test by England while Australia may also have some tough decisions to make.
England vs Australia 2nd Ashes Test 2019 is going to be played at Lord’s, London starting on the 14th of August 2019.
England will look back to the first day of the first Ashes 2019 test when they had Australia down at 122 for 8 as the time when they should have taken firm control of the match. They then had a chance to bat Australia out of the test match but a lead of 90 runs did not prove to be enough.
The biggest difference between England pressing home the advantage and winning to being pushed back was Steve Smith.
England has to find a way to get him out because as of now they don’t have any answers. Maybe the addition of Jack Leach and Jofra Archer to the playing eleven will provide some different ideas. There is a perceived weakness that Steve Smith has against left-arm spinners while Jofra Archer is going to hurry everyone up with his express pace.
England is expected to swap out James Anderson and Moeen Ali from the playing eleven for Jofra Archer and Jack Leach. They also have Sam Curran in the squad but we don’t think he is going to get a game at Lords.
While the focus is going to be on the bowling, England’s batting needs to start being better as well. Rory Burns played an excellent knock of 130 but Jason Roy has looked scratchy in both the innings. Joe Root’s move to number three is good in theory but is he protecting Joe Denly at number 4? Shouldn't it be the other way around?
Joe Denly is going to be under tremendous pressure to perform. We are not worried about Jonny Bairstow or Jos Buttler not scoring runs because they are far too good to fail for too long. Ben Stokes is once again going to play a huge role in both the batting and bowling.
England is a top-notch test side and one loss should not deter its confidence.
Rory Burns, JJ Roy, JE Root, Joe Denly, Jos Buttler, BA Stokes, Jonny Bairstow, CR Woakes, Jofra Chioke Archer, Stuart Broad, Jack Leach.
A superb comeback from Steve Smith has helped Australia take the early lead in the Ashes 2019. Australia now will be hoping to keep the pressure on England by winning this match in Lord’s. We don’t think Australia’s batting lineup is going to undergo any changes whatsoever.
Cameron Bancroft, David Warner, Usman Khawaja, Steve Smith, Travis Head, Matthew Wade, and Tim Paine make for a very good batting lineup. Warner may not have got the runs he wanted but he is not far from making a statement either.
Can Steve Smith continue to fire the way he has? His previous match was the first time in his career that he has scored two centuries in the one game. At any level of cricket. So we don’t think he is going to be able to score two more centuries and think he might actually struggle a little.
Australia is also going to have to answer some tough questions about their bowling attack. Do they want to continue making Josh Hazelwood and Mitchell Starcsit on the bench? Peter Siddle bowled well but did not pick a wicket and James Pattinson was not as effective as could have been expected.
A winning combination is always tough to change and we think Australia’s best bowling pair is going to have to wait a bit longer for its turn in the Ashes 2019.
Nathan Lyon had an excellent game and won the match for his side on the fifth day. Lord’s is expected to be dry and offer him a lot of help. He is going to be the real danger for England in this match.
CT Bancroft, David Warner, Usman Khawaja, Marnus Labuschagne, TM Head, Matthew Wade, Tim Paine, Pat Cummins, Peter Siddle, Nathan Michael Lyon, JR Hazlewood.
The team that wins the toss is going to want to bowl first and take advantage of any moisture that may be around

England vs Australia 2nd Ashes Test 2019 is going to be played at Lord’s, London starting on the 14th of August 2019. The weather forecast for the first day of play is not good at all but it improves from then on. There is some rain expected on most days and we could have plenty of time lost in the match.
The pitch is going to be very interesting to see. Lord’s has struggled to get some life in its surfaces as they have become slower and more conducive to spin than ever. We think the groundsman will leave a lot of grass (although not quite as much) on the surface life he did against Ireland to help the surface last for the entire five days.
Dream11 prediction for England vs Australia 2nd Ashes Test is being made keeping the weather forecast in mind and the assumptions that a green seaming surface similar to the one offered up against Ireland will be seen in Lords. We will be updating our Dream11 team for England vs Australia 2nd Ashes Test 2019 after the pitch report and toss. The updated team will be available on twitter. Wicketkeeper: Jonny Bairstow and Jos Buttler are out of form and we are not going to pick them unless the pitch is good for batting. We have selected Matthew Wade from this category thanks to his good form and affordable price.
Batsmen: Steve Smith, Joe Root, and Usman Khawaja are the three players we like from this category. The openers seem to be having a tough time in England of late and that is we have avoided them from both teams. There is no room for any other batsmen in a bowler-dominated Dream11 team.
All-rounders: Ben Stokes is the most valuable player on both sides thanks to his wicket-taking ability and an underrated test match batting ability. He should be a must in every side.
Bowlers: Pat Cummins, Chris Woakes, Stuart Broad, Jofra Archer, Josh Hazelwood, and Mitchell Starc are the bowlers we have picked for our Dream11 side right now. There is a very good possibility that a couple of opf changes have to be made after the playing eleven from both teams are announced. If the pitch is green then the overcast conditions could make it ideal for the fast bowlers and we recommend packing in as many as possible.
Captain and Vice-Captain: We have selected Josh Hazelwood as captain and Ben Stokes as vice-captain for our Dream11 picks England vs Australia 2nd Ashes Test 2019.
We think England is going to hit back strongly against Australia in this match. It had a couple of opportunities to win the match in the first test but it was only Steve Smith’s brilliance which denied them. Fundamentally, the England side is very good and better suited to the conditions.
Bet on England to win.
A hedge on the draw, looking at the weather conditions is not a bad idea either.
