A total of less than three days play was possible in the second Ashes test match yet we almost saw a result in that game as well. It is a mark of the manner in which test cricket is played in today’s day and age as well as the quality of bowling on both sides.
England vs Australia third Ashes test 2019 is going to be played at Headingley, Leeds. The biggest news is the absence of Steve Smith which will be a crushing blow to the Aussies. Australia is leading 1-0 in the series but with three test matches still to play, that lead is looking a bit precarious.
England was rejuvenated with the entry of Jofra Archer in the side and he is going to be a big factor once again. There are some important questions to be answered for England as well.
England vs Australia Ashes 2019 third test match is going to be played at Headingley, Leeds starting from the 22nd of August 2019.
It was just the weather in the end that denied England a chance of getting even in the Ashes 2019 series. They did almost everything brilliantly apart from getting their batting order right. Runs for Ben Stokes and Jonny Bairstow are going to be a welcome sight since the top-order seems to be struggling a bit.
England has opened with Rory Burns and Jason Roy in the first two matches. While Burns has been competent, Roy has looked out of his depth. Trevor Bayliss indicated that England might make a change and actually move Roy down to the middle order.
That could be a good move and send both Joe Denly and Jason Roy to their preferred batting position by swapping them out.
Joe Root is also struggling against Aussie bowling attack and look like a walking wicket at the moment.
England’s middle and lower order is very strong which is why it keeps on getting to defendable totals even when the top-order does not score too many runs.
Jofra Archer breathed fire in the previous match and perhaps his most telling contribution has been the injuries to Aussies batsmen, both mentally and physically. We hope he is allowed to bowl with unbridled fire in the upcoming match as well because there is really no greater sight than watching a genuinely fast bowler steam in.
There has been some talk of Sam Curran coming into the team but we don’t think England is going to make any changes unless they are forced to because of an injury.
Rory Burns, JJ Roy, JE Root, Joe Denly, BA Stokes, Jonny Bairstow, Jos Buttler, CR Woakes, Jofra Chioke Archer, Stuart Broad, Jack Leach.
Marnus Labuschagne became the first concussion substitute in a test-match and gave a very good account of himself. He stood up nicely against the England fast bowling and did not let the Archer bouncer barrage spoil his concentration.
He is the obvious replacement for Steve Smith in this upcoming match.
Australia’s batting troubles run a bit deeper, though. Steve Smith had 378 runs to his name at an average of 126.00 before being ruled out of the previous match. The next best is Travis Head with 135 runs.
Now that Smith is not there, there is no hiding for the other batsmen in the team.
David Warner, Cameron Bancroft, Usman Khawaja, Travis Head, and Matthew Wade all have to prove their worth. Warner and Bancroft have struggled against the new ball and need to find a way to at least occupy the crease for longer.
The Aussie bowling attack could also see some changes. Josh Hazelwood was brought in for James Pattinson in the previous match and was the best bowler on the day. Surely, it is time for Mitchell Starc to be unleashed on the English batsmen?
Pat Cummins has 13 wickets to his name already, the most for the series, Hazelwood and Lyon are in excellent bowling form, which leave Siddle as the weakest link. Peter Siddle has bowled well but we really think Mitchell Starc would have had more impact.
The only reason why Australia may choose to stick with Siddle is his ability to bowl long spells.
One bad session can see Australia’s 1-0 lead disappear and that is why Australia must go into this match looking to win rather than just trying to avoid losing.
David Warner, Marcus Harris, Usman Khawaja, Marnus Labuschagne, TM Head, Matthew Wade, Tim Paine, James Pattinson, Pat Cummins, Nathan Michael Lyon, JR Hazlewood.
The team that wins the toss is likely to want to bowl first and take advantage of the conditions on Day 1

England vs Australia Ashes 2019 third test is going to be played at Headingley, Leeds starting on the 22nd August 2019. The weather forecast for the match is excellent. There are some showers predicted on the morning of the first test but nothing much for the entire five days to follow.
Test match pitches at Headingley always have a little something in it for the fast bowlers on day 1. The pitch can flatten out to help the batsmen on the second and third day but the seamers are never quite out of the action.
We could see another 4-day test if the pitch is as green as it is being reported right now.
Dream11 prediction for England vs Australia Ashes 2019 third test match. This match is going to be played at Headingley, a venue that has been good for bowlers in the past. We also think Jason Roy may get to bat in the middle order in this match. These are all assumptions based on the pre-match noise from the two camps and this is why we will be updating our Dream11 team for England vs Australia Ashes 2019 third test on twitter after the pitch report and toss.
Wicketkeeper: The third Ashes test is going to be played at Jonny Bairstow's home ground and this is why we have picked him in our team. His batting form has been decent as well with runs in both innings of the previous test.
Batsmen: Usman Khawaja, Jason Roy, and Rory Burns are the only batsmen we have selected in our Dream11 team. Khawaja has looked good without getting a big score and will need to be more responsible in the absence of Steve Smith. Burns has been the best opening batsmen from either side so far. Picking Jason Roy is a risk but he could be batting in the middle order in this match, a position he is much more suited for.
All-rounders: Marnus Labuschagne, Ben Stokes, and Travis Head are the three all-rounders we like for this match. Head is the second-highest run-scorer for Australia, Lbuschagne played very well in the previous match, and Ben Stokes is the best value player in the entire pool available.
Bowlers: Pat Cummins has the most wickets in the series right now, Chris Woakes could be a real handful in swinging conditions, Jofra Archer is going to bring the heat once more while Josh Hazelwood is also a bowler whom the conditions are going to suit very well.
Captain and vice-captain: We have picked Ben Stokes as the captain and Chris Woakes as the vice-captain for this match.
England would have won the previous test match had it not been for the rain. Its bowling is very dangerous with the addition of Jofra Archer and the presence of multiple all-rounders gives it a lot of depth as well.
We think England could run over a Steve Smith less Australia with ease.
Bet on England to win.
