The first ODI between England and Ireland was a huge disappointment. Ireland batted terribly and was no match for England and so the result was never in question. There were maybe a few moments in the entire game where Ireland could have made England sweat but they let go of all those opportunities.
There is no break before the second match and the teams are going to have very little time to change things around. Can Ireland get its act together and actually give England a fight or will it be all one-way traffic once again? Let us look at some of the bets on offer to try and find some value in this match.
England vs Ireland 2nd ODI 2020 is going to be played at the Rose Bowl, Southampton on the 1st of August 2020.
David Willey and Sam Billings were both making a comeback in the ODI team, perhaps only because some of the other players were not available. They made the most of their opportunity, though, with five wickets and 67 not out to their names respectively.
Willey picked up early wickets and ensured that Ireland was always struggling with the bat.
There is no need for England to make a change and we don’t think they will want to either after just one match. Maybe once the series has been won, a few changes can be made but the playing eleven should remain the same for this match.
It was interesting to see Eoin Morgan give a promotion to players like Tom Banton and Sam Billings above himself. He clearly wants the younger members of the team to have a hit and that is something that you should keep in mind while placing your bets.
Jason Roy, Jonny Bairstow, and James Vince all missed-out in the opening match. That is not something that is going to happen too often and we are very bullish one of them scoring a big score in the upcoming match.
All the bowlers did well but the early wickets from Willey really took away the pressure. A flat track like the one we saw would usually pose more difficulties to the bowlers.
Jason Roy, Jonny Bairstow, James Vince, Eoin Morgan, Tom Banton, Sam Billings, Moeen Ali, David Willey, R Topley, AU Rashid, Saqib Mahmood.
There were very few positives to take for Ireland from the previous match. Curtis Campher really did well on his debut by scoring a fifty and then pocking up a wicket as well. He looks like someone who is going to be around for a long time and could push Irish cricket in the right direction.
Craig Young picked up two wickets, Andy McBrine gt a very useful 40 but overall the team’s big names failed miserably.
The onus in the next match has to be on the batsmen.
Ireland opened the batting with Gareth Delany and pushed Kevin O’Brien down the order. It looked as Delany was given the license to play freely and could be a worthwhile move in the long run. Kevin O’Brien has the experience but could be left picking up the pieces more often than not.
Paul Stirling and Andy Balbirnie have to take responsibility and play like we know they can.
That is the only way that Ireland will even come close to putting some pressure on England.
We think a better batting performance can be expected now that the players would have had time to get used to the surface.
Ireland’s bowling is not very good. We all know that but it is going to be powerless to stop England without any help from the batsmen. Craig Young showed he can be effective with two wickets while Curts Campher and Simi Singh were decent in the middle overs too.
Boyd Rankin is likely to come in for Barry McCarthy in this match.
Andy Balbirnie, PR Stirling, Gareth Delany, Harry Tector, Kevin O'Brien, Curtis Campher, Lorcan Tucker, Simi Singh, Andy McBrine, Joshua Little, CA Young.
The team that wins the toss would like to bat first. The threat of rain is not serious enough that team will want to miss the opportunity of scoring heavily on this featherbed of a wicket at Southampton.
Read our guide on toss predictions to learn how we analyze and come up with our tips.
There is some rain expected in Southampton but nothing that is going to affect the duration of the match. We may have a delay but should be able to get the full schedule of overs to play. The pitch was brilliant for batting in the previous match and is going to be similar once again.
It was the fault of the Irish batsmen for not being able to score at least a hundred more runs in the opening game. If England bats first, 330-350 could be on the cards.
Dream11 tips and Dream 11 team for England vs Ireland 2nd ODI 2020. We have gone all-in on the England batting in this match starting with the openers. We are hoping that England wins the toss and bats first which will allow our picks to get the best. A few changes may need to be made if Ireland win the toss with some more England bowlers needing to be in the selections.
Nothing that Ireland did in the opening match changed our opinion about what to expect from this series. England is far too strong and although the chances of an upset can never be zero, we cannot ask you to bet on it.
England’s batting depth, power, and bowling resources are all superior to what Ireland brings to the table.
Bet on England to win. ($1.04 at Rabona)
Our favorite Bets
Jonny Bairstow England Top Batsman at $4.00 (Betway Boost)
Jonny Bairstow opens the batting for England so has the best chance to make a big score. He also got a 150 in the warm-up match. One bad match should not count against him. With the Betway Boost, you are getting 4x winnings for your bet, which is phenomenal in our opinion, and certainly a place to park some money.
Bairstow is also going to get a chance to bat irrespective of who wins the toss.
A Hundred Score in the Match – Yes ($2.10) (10Cric)
The conditions are too good and England’s batting is too strong for there not be a hundred hit in the match. Players like Bairstow, Roy, Vince, Morgan, or the talented youngsters are going to hungry for a big score to make sure their place in the eleven does not come into any question.
The return that 10Cric is offering is pretty good as well.
