The World Cup is over and England is the winner after the greatest ODI ever played. Now, its time for some more traditional cricket. This is an Ashes summer and that means that test match cricket is right at the centre of everything.
England is going to be building up to the Ashes with a historic 4 day Test against Ireland at Lord’s, London. This will be the first time that Ireland and England are going to be playing against each other in a test match and there is no better venue than the home of cricket.
Ireland will only be playing its third test match and no one really expects it to win but they are quite capable of giving England a fright. There are a number of new faces in both the squads and this match is going to be followed with more interest than usual because of the Ashes to follow just a few days later.
England vs Ireland Only Test 2019 is going to be played at Lords’ London starting on the 24th of July 2019.
It may seem ages ago but England lost a test series to the West Indies in February earlier this year while fielding its first choice eleven. There was a lot of shifting players from their batting positions, a desperate hunt for opening batsmen and bowling combinations that could be effective in all conditions.
That search for players as well as some injury concerns after the world cup has meant that England is going to be fielding more than one debutant at Lord’s this week.
Lewis Gregory, Olly Stone, and Jason Roy are three new faces in the squad all of whom could end up playing this match. Rory Burns and Joe Denly are also in the squad and they too have just played a handful of matches.
It seems certain that Jason Roy is going to be playing the test against Ireland since he is a sureshot lock-in for the Ashes opening slot as well. If he can be anything as destructive as he is in the white-ball format then England is going to be hard to stop.
Partnering him at the top of the order is Rory Burns. He has not scored runs in his international test career till now but is going to get another chance to cement his place at the top of the order. Joe Denly and Joe Root are the 3 and 4 batsmen.
Denly made 69 against the West Indies in the final test while Root scored a century. Jonny Bairstow is going to have to bat at 5 in this test with Ben Stokes and Jos Buttler not being in the squad.
England’s 3,4,5 are going to be where the runs have to come from.
We think England will pick all three debutants, Moeen Ali, Chris Woakes, and Stuart Broad to round out its eleven. James Anderson could continue to be rested ahead of the first Ashes test while Jack Leach as the second spinner may not be required.
England is going in with a vastly different test side then its first choice one but it is still going to be formidable in home conditions.
JJ Roy, Rory Burns, Joe Denly, JE Root, Jonny Bairstow, Moeen Ali, CR Woakes, Sam Curran, Jack Leach, Stuart Broad, Olly Stone.
Ireland has only played two test matches in its history and this is by far the biggest occasion it has had in its relatively short cricketing history. We don’t think Ireland is going to be overawed by the sense of occasion, though. We expect them to come out aggressive and give this the best shot they can believing they can cause an upset.
Ireland is going to be playing against an English team that is searching for a lot of answers and has plenty of inexperienced players. Yes, Ireland is still no match for England on paper but they definitely have a chance of causing a few flutters.
Ireland has included two young and impressive fast bowlers in its test squad. Mark Adair and Craig Young both have an opportunity to make their debut in the upcoming test match. They have put in impressive performances at the U-19 level and will be looking forward to their opportunity.
The first real challenge for Ireland is going to be scoring enough runs to stay in the test match. The responsibility of scoring the bulk of the runs has to fall on James McCollum, Andrew Balbirnie, and Paul Stirling.
William Porterfield, Kevin O Brien, and Gary Wilson are all very experienced players for Ireland but they are nearer to the end of their careers than the start. Kevin O Brien scored a century on debut against Pakistan and another one against England would be on his mind.
The next big challenge is finding a way to pick 20 English wickets.
Boyd Rankin is likely to lead the bowling attack alongside Tim Murtagh with one debutant fast bowler and a mix of all-rounders filling up the rest. This is not a world-class bowling attack yet and England will have plenty of opportunities to score runs when the pressure lets up.
Unless conditions really favor bowling and one of the bowlers has the day of his life, Ireland is going to struggle to bowl out England in even one of the innings.
WTS Porterfield, PR Stirling, Andy Balbirnie, James McCollum, Kevin O'Brien, GC Wilson, Mark Richard Adair, Andy McBrine, SR Thompson, WB Rankin, TJ Murtagh.
The team that wins the toss is going to want to bowl first to take advantage of any movement that might be present on the first day.

England vs Ireland Only Test Match 2019 is going to be played at Lord’s London. The weather forecast for the duration of the test match is not too bad. Showers are expected on the fourth day but the first three days look set to be dry and ideal for cricket.
The pitch at Lords is going to be green. The slowness of the underlying surface will force the groundsman to leave enough grass on the pitch to keep it from becoming a mud pit. That should mean some help for the fast bowlers and a match that moves quickly.
Batting conditions should be at their best on the second day.
DReam11 prediction for England vs Ireland is quite interesting. this is a 4-day test match where the conditions are going to be favoring the bowlers initially. Both teams are also playing a number of youngsters which means that unpredictability is going to be a bit high.
Wicketkeeper: Jonny Bairstow is the clear and easy option in this category. Not only is he a good test match keeper but he is also one of England's premier batsmen.
Batsmen: We have picked Joe Root, Andrew Balbirnie, Paul Stirling, Joe Denly, and James McCollum in this category. The big name missing is that of Jason Roy. Traditionally, England has been a tough place for the opening batsmen and Roy is still untested against the new ball. We think it's safer not to have him in the team.
All-rounders: Stuart Thompson and Sam Curran make it into our side. Thompon is more of a batsman that can bowl a bit while Curran is going to be a big threat with the ball in his hand.
Bowlers: We don't think Ireland's bowlers are going to be able to have too much impact in this game and are not going to be able to pick 20 wickets. This is why we have picked Stuart Broad, Ollie Stone, and Chris Woakes in our Dream11 team for England vs Ireland.
Captain and vice-captain: We have picked Sam Curran our captain and Chris Woakes as the vice-captain for our Dream11 picks for England vs Ireland.

A 4-day test-match with some rain predicted on the fourth day sounds like a good opportunity to bet on the draw. We would advise you to still bet on an England win with maybe a small hedge on the draw. Developing test match skills takes time and having an established culture of long-format first-class cricket is invaluable.
Bet on England to win.
