ENG vs RSA Match Prediction - Jul 27, 2022

After a very exciting ODI series that ended 1-1 thanks to rain in the third ODI, the action now shifts to the T20 series between England and South Africa. This is the format that is more important right now as the T20 World Cup 2022 is just a few months away.

England lost its previous series against India and has yet to win a series under the new white-ball captain, Jos Buttler. South Africa is clearly a better team than a lot of cricket betting sites are giving it credit for but is it strong enough to pull off an upset against England?

Match prediction and cricket betting tips for England vs South Africa 1st T20 2022. The match is going to be played at the County Ground, Bristol on the 27th of July 2022.

ENG vs RSA Team Previews

England

England will just be a bit nervous heading into this T20 series since its last few white-ball results have not been great. It has been struggling with consistency from its top order and its batting depth has not always translated into big scores.

After a loss to India in the previous series, England will probably make a few changes. Ben Stokes has been rested but Sam Curran and Adil Rashid are available for selection. Jason Roy, Jos Buttler, Dawid Malan, and Jonny Bairstow seem likely to be in the top 4. A bit of pressure is always on Malan because of his strike rate but he has not done too badly.

We will bet against Roy to score runs as we have been doing this entire English summer and it has been quite profitable so far.

Liam Livingstone, Harry Brook, and Moeen Ali are all jostling for places in a crowded middle-order but that just shows the sheer strength and depth of the batting lineup. Sixes are always on the menu when England is playing and so to bet on them to hit more sixes is certainly an option.

Adil Rashid is one of the bowlers that will be pivotal in this match. He either picks up a lot of wickets or goes for a lot of runs. There does not seem to be anything in the middle with him. Reece Topley, Chris Jordan, and perhaps Richard Gleeson will all play in the match as well.

We like the look of England and it is clear why they are the favorites. The risk for bettors here is that England has been underperforming its potential for the last few matches.

South Africa

South Africa will be led by David Miller for this series and he has some exciting players at his disposal. We are thrilled to see Rilee Rossouw back in the squad for this match. His performances in T20 leagues across the globe (including England) have surely made him an automatic selection for some time to come.

Quinton de Kock will open the batting and with a 90-plus score in the rained-out ODI, he will be feeling quite confident. South Africa could choose to include Reeza Hendricks as the second opener or maybe even promote Rossouw into that role.

Rassie van der Dussen, Aiden Markram, and David Miller will be the other three batters at the core of the lineup. Rassie van der Dussen is in great form as well while Markram and Miller had a tremendous IPL in the middle order.

This is a strong batting lineup, no doubt! Also, Dwaine Pretorius could be used as a pinch-hitting floater or as the finisher providing more flexibility.

The bowling lineup also seems to be at full strength. Tabraiz Shamsi, Keshav Maharaj (two very different spinners that bowl at different times in the match), Anrich Nortje, Kagiso Rabada, and maybe Wayne Parnell could all find a place in the playing eleven.

There are a number of quality options and while this South Africa lineup is a bit underrated, it seems to have the resources to be able to get the better of any lineup.

Pitch and Conditions

There is not too much rain predicted for match day and we should have a full match to enjoy. As far as the pitch goes, a flat pitch with a lot of runs in it is on the cards. We are reasonably confident of having a high-scoring match between two teams that pack a real punch. This is why we are going to be looking at the Total Runs, Total Sixes, and Total Fours betting markets with close interest.

A score of around 170 should be seen as par but even 190 is not out of the question.

ENG vs RSA Betting Tips

We are going to bet on South Africa to win. We think South Africa is being very undervalued by the cricket betting sites. It has the batting firepower to compete and it also has the bowling to get the better of England. Sure, England has more pedigree and is playing in home conditions but the odds are just too short for our liking.

Bet on South Africa to win.

We have been betting against Roy for quite some time and it looks like the Over/Under line is finally moving downward. Still, we think he is in the middle of a terrible runs of form and will bet against him. A smallish bet on Jason Roy to score Under 20.5 seems like the way to go.

England and South Africa are both loaded with six-hitters in their lineup. The weather forecast for this match is good and the pitch should flat as well. All of this indicates a lot of boundaries and sixes on offer. We are going to bet on Over 12.5 Sixes to be scored in this match because we believe it will be a power-packed high-scoring affair.
