Sri Lanka are having a torrid time in England this season and their recent drubbings in white-ball format is evidence enough of that. They were clinically defeated in the T20I leg of the series and would have looked to improve in the 50-over format, but that improvement hasn't come.
We still have a couple of matches to go in the ODI leg and the Lankan Lions will be looking to script a fight-back when they meet England in the second match of the series. The 2nd ODI of the series between England and Sri Lanka is to be played on 1st July 2021 at The Oval Cricket Ground, London.
The white-ball champions have definitely justified their tag in the series done so far. While they haven't gotten enough competition from Sri Lanka, but England have been imposing in the three matches done and will be looking to take the series when they take on Sri Lanka in the upcoming match.
It's not that England have not had issues in dealing with the Sri Lankan bowlers, but the way they have fought and adapted has been commendable. Joe Root, for instance, was terrific in the previous match as he single-handedly steered the chase in England's favor. Apart from that, England have been terrific with the ball and that is the primary reason that they find themselves in a superlative position.
All in all, England have been brilliant in this series and their on-paper strength shows the reason. They have a batting lineup that goes down till number ten and the presence of so many all-rounders provides versatility to their side. Beating them is going to be a big challenge for Sri Lankans yet again.

Sri Lanka have been as dismal as they can be in all the matches that we have seen played between the two teams on this tour. They were terrible in the shortest format of the game and failed to mark any improvement whatsoever in the longer version of the game.
In the last match, they looked in control at one stage despite putting up a lackluster show with the bat. However, poor fielding coupled with some ordinary captaincy saw them lose the match easily from a fighting position.
Overall, Sri Lanka have played far from their best. Their bowlers have done a remarkable job, but the batting just hasn't fired. If their batting can join the forces with the bowling, they certainly do have enough in their tank to hold England and level the series.

There haven't been too many things that the visitors have done right on their tour so far. Yes, there have been sessions where they have looked at the top, but England's resilience and depth has always proven to be too much to handle. Considering how things have been, we would be placing our money on an England win and so should you.
