It's been a while since India Women played an international T20 match. In their next assignment, they'll be up against the top two teams in World Cricket as they take on England Women and Australia Women in a tri-nation T20I series. The first match of the series is to be played between England and India, on 31st January, at Manuka Oval, Canberra. With ICC Women's World T20 not too far away, this tournament will act as the perfect platform for the three teams to get their respective combinations right. While England have always been a better side historically, the Indians have given them a tough fight in recent matches. With both teams looking pretty settled, we expect a hard-fought contest on Friday.
On paper, England have a superb lineup consisting of some of the veterans of the game. Heather Knight and Dannielle Wyatt have both been brilliant for the three lions over the last few years and will hold key to their fortunes. Danni Wyatt was brilliant in her last few Australian tours and will be looking to replicate her performances in this series as well.
The likes of Heather Knight and Natalie Sciver add to the depth of the English lineup. They all can contribute in both the departments of the game and can turn the match on its head when in form. Natalie Sciver, in particular, was brilliant in the recently concluded Women's Big Bash League and her experience is going to come in handy for England.
All in all, England Women have a terrific unit on paper and considering the form they have been in, India would have to work very hard to get past them.

The Women's Cricket in India has grown leaps and bounds in recent times not just in popularity but lso in quality. India are at the third spot in ICC Women's Championship Table in ODIs and have done in a similar manner in the shortest format of the game as well. The likes of Smriti Mandhana, Jemimah Rodriques, and Harmanpreet Kaur were involved in the recently concluded Big Bash League and the experience of playing on Australian soil could heap massively in this upcoming triangular series.
Led by Harmanpreet Kaur, India have a pretty settled unit. Smriti Mandhana has been terrific in recent past at the top of the order and Shafali Verma, the new youngster, played a brilliant knock to complement her in her last game. With the likes of Jemimah Rodriques, Harmanpreet Kaur, and Taniya Bhatia to follow, Indian Women have a superb batting unit.
While the batting looks solid on paper, it's India's bowling that is going to make or break the deal for them. The likes of Shikha Pandey, Poonam Yadav, and Arundhati Reddy will have to strangle England in the middle overs and keep their potent middle-order at bay. If they can do that, England will have their work cut out.
Shafali Verma, Smriti Mandhana, Jemimah Rodrigues, Taniya Bhatia, Veda Krishnamurthy, Harmanpreet Kaur, Deepti Sharma, Shikha Pandey, Pooja Vastrakar, Rajeshwari Gayakwad, Radha Yadav.

This is a short triangular series with each team getting to play the other team only twice. Therefore, a win and consequently a couple of points will be of massive importance in every single game. Both the sides are expected to come in hard at each other and a well-fought contest is certainly on the cards. Considering the fact that English players have more experience of playing in the Aussie conditions and their team is better-balanced on the whole, England walk in as firm favorites to win the opening encounter of this triangular series between Australia, England, and India.
