With ICC Cricket World Cup going on, there would be a little focus on all the other cricket happening across the globe and there isn't much cricket being played around either. However, England women and West Indies women are set to meet in a three-match ODI series beginning from 6th June with the first match to be played at Fischer County Ground, Grace Road, Leicester. The ODI series will be followed by a three-match T20I series, so the followers to women's cricket are expected to have a fun-filled month ahead. While England are playing at home and have a formidable lineup, West Indies women have done well in recent times and can be a threat on their day and, therefore, it's certainly expected to be a cracker of series ahead.
The series carries massive importance for England as far as the World Championship is concerned. Currently, they are placed second at the points table with nine wins in fifteen matches and a white-wash here will take them to the first place, one point clear for the first placed - Australia.
We are likely to see a major change in their team combination as compared to what it was like in the last series. The likes of Sophie Ecclestone, Sarah Taylor, and Jenny Gunn are set to make a return to the squad whereas Georgia Elwiss, who is nursing an injury, will miss out.
Coming into the series, England are carrying a terrific momentum with ten wins in their last ten matches in all formats combined. Their most remarkable series win, however, was against India where they won four games on the trot.
Compared to their last two series, England are a stronger unit with not many players out due to injury. They have a terrific batting unit which is well complemented by a set of good all-rounders and bowlers. They are certainly one of the better sides in women's cricket and beating them is not going to be easy for any team anywhere, let alone at home.
Tammy Beaumont, Amy Ellen Jones, Sarah Taylor, Natalie Sciver, Heather Knight, Katherine Brunt, Danielle Wyatt, Kate Cross, Anya Shrubsole, Sophie Ecclestone, Laura Marsh.
With just one win in their fifteen completed matches, West Indies are sitting at the bottom of the Women's championship and are sure to undergo qualification round as far as getting through to the 2021 World Cup is concerned. With nothing left to lose, they are likely to come out all guns blazing.
Form-wise, West Indies are coming off a good 3-0 T20 series win in Ireland. However, in this sterner challenge against England, they'll be without their leading run scorer of that series, Deandra Dottin who is set to miss the entire tour. Considering the form she was in and the balance she adds to the side with his all-round abilities, her absence is certainly a huge blow.
Besides her, West Indies still have some highly capable players on which their fans, as well as the management, will be banking on. All in all, West Indies are a good side on paper who although is capable of defeating any side on its day, they have too many voids to fill. They'd need to play out of their skills to challenge an almost full-strength English side.
Hayley Matthews, Kycia Knight, Stafanie Taylor, Stacy-Ann King, Shemaine Campbelle, Chedean Nation, Kyshona Knight, Chinelle Henry, Afy Fletcher, Shakera Selman, Shamilia Connell.

It's an important series with both sides for different reasons. For England, the series is a matter of going to the top of the table in Women's championship and the Caribbean side will be looking to get their combination right and get some momentum under their belt. England have a better side on-paper, home advantage, momentum, and players who are in exceptional form. Although we have seen strange things happen in Cricket, England are firm favorites to win the first match of the series quite comfortably.
