ENGW vs WIW Match Prediction - Jun 21, 2019

West Indies women got some respite from the continuous losses they were getting not because they toppled England, but rain played spoil-sport in their first T20I match of the three-match series. The two teams are set to meet each other once again, in the second match of the three-match series, at County Ground, Northampton on 21st June. The rain has played a significant role in the ongoing Cricket World Cup, and this series between England and West Indies haven't been spared either. We have already seen a couple of matches decided by DLS method and a washout, but we can expect a full game to happen on Friday.

ENGW vs WIW Team Previews

England Women

It's been a surprisingly good tournament for the home side. They were undoubtedly expected to do well in home conditions, especially with the form they were in before coming into the series, but the way they have certainly punched way above what was expected from them.

The margin of all their wins in the ODI series was colossal with both their batting and bowling doing exceedingly well. In the ODI series, England kept racking up huge totals after opting to bat first, and their bowlers kept restricting Windies on considerably low scores.

The likes of Sarah Taylor, Heather Knight, and Amy Jones have been in fine form with the bat, and their bowlers have done a fine job as well. All in all, this England unit is on a rampage and will certainly not be easy to get past, especially in home conditions.

West Indies Women

West Indies would have hoped for a better outing in England after handing Ireland a 3-0 drubbing prior to this series. However, they've exhibited a sorry performance in this series with no one in their lineup stepping up either with the bat or ball.

They displayed a few moments of brilliance in the ODI series, but they were either too few or too late to make a difference to the result. Also, the absence of Deandra Dottin has hampered their balance which has been apparent in all the matches they've played.

West Indies should enjoy the change of format from ODIs to T20Is. They have a history of performing better in the shorter version of the game and they may very well fancy their chances in the second fixture of the series. Having said that, considering the form they are in, they'd need to play out of their skins to hand England the first defeat of the series.

ENGW vs WIW Betting Tips

It's been a tour which West Indies would love to forget as soon as possible. They've been outplayed in all departments of the game by a considerable margin in the three completed matches. However, the change in format should suit them and their head to head record against England in T20Is supports that fact. They've emerged victorious eight times in sixteen encounters between the two sides and have lost only six. Considering the form of two sides and the balance of their lineups, England are certainly hot favorites to win the upcoming fixture.
