The England women's T20 team has secured a 3-0 series victory against the West Indies women. There are still two more matches left to be played, though, and that means that the players have something to play for. England is going to want nothing less than a 5-0 sweep over this relatively weak West Indian team.
At this point, a single victory is also going to be an achievement for the West Indies but they are going to have to work very hard for that. The positive thing was that they did manage to push England close in their most recent match.
England W vs West Indies W 4th T20 2020 is going to be played at the County Ground, Derby on the 28th of September 2020.
England batted first for the third time in a row and put in another very good performance. Nate Sciver top-scored with 82 runs to her name as she led the team to a total of 154. England would not be pleased about the fact that none of their top batters managed to get in the runs.
Heather Knight scored 29 and was the only one that hung around with Sciver.
Still, the depth in the batting with names like Tammy Beaumont, Danielle Wyatt, Amy Ellen Jones, and Fran Wilson means that at least one of them can be expected to come through on any given day.
It is this depth that the West Indian bowlers do not seem to have an answer to.
England’s bowling was tested for perhaps the first time in the series. Deanda Dottin came out and struck some fearsome boundaries to give the English bowlers something to think about. However, the bowlers were able to keep a tight control on the other end and so their figures did not suffer too much.
Katherine Brunt and Sarah Glenn were the pick of the bowlers.
Tammy Beaumont, Danielle Wyatt, Natalie Sciver, Heather Knight, Sophia Dunkley Brown, Amy Ellen Jones, Katherine Brunt, Mady Villiers, Sarah Glenn, Sophie Ecclestone, Anya Shrubsole.
We don't think there is an easy fix to the problems that the West Indies has at the moment. The complete lack of depth in the batting is not going to change overnight. They tried to shift things around and push Stafanie Taylor down the order to try and space out their best batters but that did not work either.
Deandra Dottin fought gamely with 63 runs to her name but did not get any meaningful support. Hayley Matthews made 21 and Stafanie Taylor made 14 but that is it.
Can this lack of batting talent correct itself in the middle of a tightly spaced series? Very unlikely.
The West Indies has a decent bowling attack but not a single bowler that we can call match-winning. Their strategy seems to be to keep the runs dry and hope that the English batters make mistakes. That is something that can work in a 20 over game but is going to be very hard against a batting lineup so stacked as England’s is.
Stafanie Taylor, Deandra Dottin, Aaliyah Alleyne, Shemaine Campbelle, Sheneta Grimmond, Lee Ann Kirby, Hayley Matthews, Shamilia Connell, Karishma Ramharack, Chedean Nation, Shabika Gajnabi.
The team that wins the toss is going to want to bat first. All three of the matches in the series have been won by the side batting first.

The pitch at Derby was noticeably slower in the most recent game and that can only continue. There have been so many matches on the same ground that the groundsman is not going to have enough time to be able to work on the pitch.
Expect the scores to become lower and the boundaries to become fewer as well.
A score of around 150 is going to be tough to chase no matter which team bats second.
There is nothing that the West Indies has shown that makes us believe they are capable of pulling off an upset. We think the right thing to do here is to bet on England and continue to do so as the odds change during the match.
Bet on England women to win.
