The defending champions of the T20 Blast, the Essex Eagles are getting ready to take on the Kent spitfires in this next match. Things have been pretty tough for Essex so far and they are still looking for their first win of the season.
Two rained-out matches and two losses have put them in a tough spot and now every match is important. Kent is at the other end of the group standings. It has not lost a single completed game, although, it has been a part of a tied one.
Kent has been able to find a way to lift its game against seemingly stronger opponents and is the current form team of the T20 Blast 2020 season.
Essex vs Kent T20 Blast 2020 is going to be played at the Kia Oval, London on the 5th of September 2020.
Essex failed to chase down 167 in the previous match against Middlesex. It was a poor batting performance from a team that seems to be struggling for any sort of rhythm in 2020. Essex lost Ravi Bopara in the middle-order as he departed to Sussex but they still have a lot to offer.
Unfortunately for Essex, that potential is not translating into performances just yet.
Cameron Delport, Tom Westley, Daniel Lawrence, and Ryan ten Doeschate need to convert their starts into something more substantial. We would also like to see some more urgency from its players. The current form of the Essex batsmen is troubling especially now that they are going up against Kent.
Simon Harmer bowled very well in the previous match to pick up two wickets and will need to do the same against a strong Kent attack. As bowling attacks go, Essex is not too bad.
Snater, Quinn, Nijjar, and Delport all bowled in the previous match. They give Essex a fair many options against Kent.
Varun Chopra, C Delport, Tom Westley, Daniel Lawrence, RN ten Doeschate, Adam Wheater, Paul Walter, SR Harmer, Shane Snater, Aron Nijjar, Matthew Quinn.
Zak Crawley is having the summer of his life. He established himself in the test side and is now showing that T20 cricket is right up his alley as well. He scored 67 to lead the Kent batting in the previous match as the team racked up 195.
Daniel Bell-Drummond, Alex Blake, and Jack Leaning all got runs as well. Leaning smashed four sixes in the 17 balls he faced providing the blitz at the end to take the side to a winning total.
Heino Kuhn has already got runs at number three and this makes Kent one of the strongest batting lineups going around. We expect more runs from Crawley in the upcoming matches and think he could lead the side to victory once again.
Kent’s bowling is not very strong and that could be a potential weakness.
Imran Qayyum took two wickets in four overs while giving away just 27 runs in the previous match. He has been in excellent form. The rest of the bowling attack has struggled to keep it together and has been a bit expensive.
Kent’s batting has been bailing it out of tough situations so far and if that fails, the side could be in for its first loss.
Zak Crawley, Daniel Bell-Drummond, Heino Kuhn, Alex Blake, Jack Leaning, JM Cox, Grant Stewart, Tim Groenewald, Matt Milnes, Fred Klaassen, Imran Qayyum.
The team that wins the toss is going to want to bat first.

An excellent day for cricket has been forecast in London for match day. There is next to no chance of rain and it looks like the pitch is going to be a belter for batting as well. This is in favor of Kent. They want a flat track where their batsman can out-muscle Essex and it looks like they are going to get it.
A score of around 180-190 is going to be par for the surface.
Essex is not as bad as the results make it seem but it is going through a tough phase. The form of its leading batsmen is a concern in a tournament where batting power is key. If the Essex bowlers can take out the Kent top-order cheaply, it may have a chance. On the other hand, Kent just needs to do what it has been doing.
Zak Crawley’s form and the power in the middle order make it the favorite to win in our opinion.
Bet on Kent to win.
