ESS vs MID Match Prediction & Betting Tips - Jul 25, 2021
It has not even been a couple of weeks since we last saw Essex and Middlesex lock horns and here they go again, albeit in a different format. Just as the Royal London One Day Cup is beginning to gain importance, Essex and Middlesex are all set to take on each other in an important Group A Contest. The match will be played at the Cloudfm County Ground, Chelmsford on 25th July 2021.
ESS vs MID Team Previews
Essex
After having a disappointing run in the shortest format of the game, Essex has bounced back in a terrific manner and are currently placed second on the Group A points table in this tournament. They registered a terrific win in their opening match with Tom Westley and Phil Walter doing a tremendous job. However, it was Simon Harmer who arguably won them the match against Hampshire as he picked up three important wickets and a miserly economy rate of 4.20.
Essex Eagles are arguably one of the least affected sides by the other competitions going around and that has what pushed them slightly ahead as compared to the other sides. Besides, win in the previous match would have given them an immense amount of confidence that can be handy in the upcoming match. There never were doubts about their on-paper strength and now that they have gained momentum, beating them is going to be a challenge.
Essex Playing 11
William Buttleman, Alastair Cook, Tom Westley, Michael Pepper, Paul Walter, RN ten Doeschate, Adam Wheater, Simon Harmer, Aron Nijjar, Shane Snater, Jamie Porter.
Middlesex
Just like Essex, Middlesex had a dismal run in the Vitality T20 Blast and will be itching to salvage some pride in this longer version of the white-ball cricket. They had a terrific run in the last edition of the tournament, winning six and losing just two of the eight matches they played in the league stage. However, they will not have the services of a couple of important players, owing to the Hundred and other commitments and that is certainly going to be a telling factor.
With the likes of Eoin Morgan and Nathan Sowter absent, Middlesex have taken a big hit in both departments of the game. Besides, with their stalwarts absent, it will be hard for their young guns to come out and perform against a side brimming with confidence. Having said that, Middlesex have ample experience available and if the likes of Max Holden, Stevie Eskinazi, and Nick Gubbins deliver for them, Essex Eagles will have their work cut out.
Middlesex Playing 11
Sam Robson, Max Holden, Joe Cracknell, Peter Handscomb, Luke Hollman, James Harris, Martin Andersson, Ethan Bamber, Thilan Walallawita, TJ Murtagh, Jack Davies.
ESS vs MID Betting Tips
Both sides had a terrible run in the T20 Blast and this match can go a long way in establishing their confidence back, albeit now for the One Day Cup. Essex have already played a game in this tournament and will know the conditions better than Middlesex. Besides, they looked in terrific touch in their opening encounter. For that reason and the ones stated above, we will be placing our money on an Essex win and so should you.
