Sussex has everything to play for as its heads into the final group match of its T20 Blast 2020 season. A win will help Sussex leapfrog Kent into second place, at least until Kent plays its last match. If Kent loses that match then Sussex will qualify automatically otherwise Sussex will have a good chance of making it through as one of the two third-placed teams to make the Finals Day.
Essex, the defending champions, has no chance of making it to the Finals Day this time around. It is going to be playing this match purely for pride.
Essex vs Sussex T20 Blast 2020 is going to be played at the County Ground, Chelmsford on the 20th of September 2020.
Essex has been very poor this season and a shadow of the team that managed to win the title last season. A complete lack of batting form from its senior players, as well as the absence of Ravi Bopara, who left after last season, have prevented Essex from being a serious contender at any stage in the Blast this season.
The likes Cameron Delport, Tom Westley, or Ryan ten Doeschatre have all failed to make any sort of lasting impact.
Can any one of them make a brilliant individual contribution in this final match and help Essex get a win? Seems unlikely.
Simon Harmer is the leader of this bowling attack but he is not enough on his own to be able to win matches for Essex. Jack Plom, Aron Nijjar, and Paul Walker have been decent for Essex with the ball as well.
C Delport, Varun Chopra, Feroze Khushi, Micheal Pepper, Paul Walter, SR Harmer, Robin Das, Aron Nijjar, Jack Plom, Shane Snater, Ben Allison.
The return of Phil Salt to the Sussex lineup at this crucial stage in the T20 Blast is very important. He is an international-quality player that can help win matches off his own bat. He scored a rapid fifty in the previous match against Middlesex and helped Sussex ace a possibly tricky chase.
Luke Wright, Delray Rawlins, Ravi Bopara, and David Wiese form a very strong batting lineup. There are more batsmen in there as well that can be shifted up or down the batting order as necessary.
Sussex has the stronger batting in this contest. No doubt.
The bowling team is going to be led by Danny Briggs, Delray Rawlins, and Ollie Robinson. George Garton picked up four wickets in the previous match and is certain to start as well.
We can see this bowling attack being enough to keep the Essex batting down quite easily.
Philip Salt, Luke Wright, Delray Rawlins, RS Bopara, D Wiese, Calum MacLeod, George Garton, Ollie Robinson, Danny Briggs, Mitchell Claydon, Tymal Mills.
The team that wins the toss is going to want to bat second.

There is no rain predicted for match day and so we should be able to get a complete, uninterrupted match. The pitch is going to be good for batting and we could see a high-scoring contest being played out.
A score of around 180 is the least that teams will be aiming for batting first.
We think that Sussex should have more than enough to be able to win this match. Its batting is far stronger and the bowling attack is in decent form as well.
Bet on Sussex to win.
