It is a bottom of the table clash as the Fort Charlotte Strikers get ready to take on the Grenadine Divers. The Strikers have lost all four of their matches so far and are all but out of the running for a place in the Vincy T10 League 2020 finals. The Grenadine divers have not done too much better and have just one win to their name. The only game that the Grenadine Divers have won came against the Fort Charlotte Strikers.
With each team scheduled to play eight matches, a sudden turnaround in form could maybe make the Vincy premier League T10 more evenly contested but we are highly doubtful that will actually happen.
Fort Charlotte Strikers vs Grenadine Divers VPL T10 2020 is going to be played at the Arnos Vale Sporting Complex, Kingstown, St Vincent on the 27th of May 2020.
The Fort Charlotte Strikers did a good job by keeping a strong La Soufriere Hikers batting lineup to just 84 in its previous match. That is well below a par total and something that the Strikers would have expected to chase down.
However, the batting once again failed the Fort Charlotte Strikers and relegated them to a 10 run defeat. Gidron Pope has been the best batsman for the Strikers so far but he could not get off to a good start. He and Keron Cottoy were out with just four runs on the board.
That is where the match was lost.
Williams and Lavia tried hard and gave the Charlotte Strikers hope but fell just when the match was getting tight.
It is clear that the depth in the Fort Charlotte Strikers is just not as good as the other teams. They showed some positive signs of improvement and would be targeting this match against the Grenadine Divers as one that they could win.
If Gidron Pope and Keron Cottoy can get some runs at the top, the improved showing of the middle-order could pay dividends.
Kenroy Williams, Jahiel Walters, Renrick Williams, Gidron Pope, Keron cottoy, Kirton Lavia, Sealroy Williams, Sylvan Spencer, Chelson Stowe, Rasheed Frederick, Ray Jordan.
The Grenadine Divers also failed to chase down a par total in their last completed match. They were set 86 against the Dark View Explorers but fell 6 runs short in the end. There were more than a couple of occasions in the match when the Grenadine Divers could have taken the advantage but they failed to do so every single time.
To be fair, the Dark View Explorers are a better team and were held pretty close by the Divers.
We were impressed with the bowling of Obed McCoy who gave away just eleven runs in his two overs and picked up two wickets as well. It was a fantastic performance from the international West Indian player and helped the Grenadine Divers set back the Dark View Explorers batting.
When it comes to the batting, Browne, Hooper, and Samuel scored runs at the top of the order but could not convert their innings into a match-winning contribution. All three of them got starts and threw it away.
Samuel was batting on 20 from just six balls at one point with three sixes in there before he got out trying to hit another one.
A little bit more of responsibility shown by the batsmen would have helped the Grenadine Divers win this match. The only match that the Divers have won so far was against the Fort Charlotte Strikers. Repeating that is not going to be an easy task.
Romano Pierre, Shem Browne, Alex Samuel, Wayne Harper, Razine Browne, Asif Hooper, Richie Richards, Tijorn Pope, Braxie Browne, Obed McCoy, Shamick Roberts.
The recent trend of batting first and winning the match cannot be ignored. The team that wins the toss is going to want to bat first.

The weather has continued to hold and allow the cricket to take place uninterrupted. The pitch has gotten a bit slower but it still has that extra bounce that we love seeing. The scores tended to go a bit lower in this recent round of matches with 85-90 being the par.
We think this is a trend that could continue and will require some recalibration to the team’s strategies.
We think there is not too much difference between the Grenadine Divers or the Fort Charlotte Strikers. Both the teams have struggled in the Vincy T10 League and have thrown away winning opportunities.
In this match, we would advise sticking with the Grenadine Divers. The batting strength of both the teams is quite even but the bowling attack of the Divers seems to be a bit better.
Bet on the Grenadine Divers to win.
