The second semi-final of the Caribbean Premier League is by far the more interesting one. The two teams that are slated to play each other are closely matched and far from perfect. It is their flaws that leave opportunities open for something special to happen.
The Guyana Amazon Warriors and the St. Lucia Zouks have the exact same number of wins to their name. 6 wins from ten matches. They have played each other twice in CPL T20 with one win each to their name.
The Warriors, as a franchise, have a history of choking in important games. Can the Zouks reopen some old wounds in this contest? Let us have a look.
Guyana Amazon Warriors vs St. Lucia Zouks CPL 2020 Semi-Final is going to be played at the Brian Lara Stadium, Tarouba, Trinidad on the 8th of September 2020.
It almost seems like the Guyana Amazon Warriors were tired of being the favorite team in the CPL group stages and made a lot of mistakes. Their traditional strength has been their bowling but that seemed compromised this season.
Now, over the last few weeks, the Guyana Amazon Warriors have started to peak. They have won their previous four matches and come into the semi-finals with a lot of confidence. Perhaps most importantly, their senior players are finding form at just the right time.
Imran Tahir is in the wickets, Brandon King scored his first fifty, Nicholas Pooran smashed a century, and Shimron Hetmyer also scored a fifty recently. Add to this strong core all-rounders like Keemo Paul, Chris Green, and the wily Naveen-ul-Haq and we have a very good T20 combination.
The risk for the Guyana Amazon Warriors is going to be a batting collapse, something they have seen plenty this season, or a horrifically poor bowling performance.
We don’t think either of those is likely looking at their current form.
Nicholas Pooran, Shimron Hetmyer, Ross Taylor, Brandon King, Keemo Paul, Chandrapaul Hemraj, Kevin Sinclair, Imran Tahir, Christopher Green, Naveen-ul-Haq, Romario Shepherd.
The St. Lucia Zouks won their most recent match against the Jamaica Tallawahs and that would have been a relief. They had lost the two before that and so winning this last one is going to raise their morale.
The Zouks are up against it in this match and they would know that. On paper, the St. Lucia Zouks do not have the batting lineup to match up against the Guyana Amazon Warriors. Mohammad Nabi and mark Deyal are perhaps their best batsmen right now.
Najibullah Zadran also scored some runs in the previous match but he is not someone that the Warriors will be too worried about.
The two most dangerous batsmen on the Zouks team are Rakheem Cornwall and Andre Fletcher, at least in terms of hitting power, and both of them have had a very poor CPL 2020 season. Darren Sammy is complete driftwood, not contributing to anything in the team.
The bowling attack is decent with Zahir Khan, Obed McCoy, Kesrick Williams, Mohammad Nabi, and Javelle Glenn. This is where the Zouks can win this match if they can somehow find a way to keep the Guyana Amazon Warriors under control.
ADS Fletcher, N Zadran, DJG Sammy, Mark Deyal, Javelle Glen, Mohammad Nabi, Roston Chase, Rahkeem Cornwall, Scott Kuggeleijn, KOK Williams, Zahir Khan.
The team that wins the toss is going to want to bat first and then try to defend it with their bowlers.

There is some rain predicted in Tarouba during the first half of the day. Thankfully, the forecast gets better for the second half and so we are reasonably sure of getting a full 20 overs a side contest. The pitch always plays a bit better under the lights and the average score has been a bit higher.
Spin is still going to dominate, though.
We think both teams would like to have at least around 150 if they bat first.

We think the Guyana Amazon Warriors are finding their best form at the perfect time in CPL 2020. They have four wins on the trot coming into this match, including one against the St. Lucia Zouks. A stronger batting lineup and a bowling attack which has improved in recent matches give the Guyana Amazon Warriors a real shot at making the CPL finals once more.
Bet on the Guyana Amazon Warriors to win.
This is an easy bet to make and has won us a lot of money in CPL 2020. One player from any side can score a fifty to win you this bet. This is not a very high return bet, at least in the betting world, but it is a nice and safe bet that you can use as a banker.
This is a very attractive bet considering the form that Nicholas Pooran has been in. He scored a century laced with 10 sixes just a few matches back. He is also an excellent player of spin, something he is sure to face quite a bit of. As one of the major batsmen of the Guyana Amazon Warriors, we think he will get enough opportunities to hit one six at least.
Imran Tahir Clear Top Guyana Amazon Warriors Bowler and Kesrick WIlliams Clear Top St. Lucia Zouks Bowler
Yes at 10
This is a risky bet but the return on this one is fantastic. We can see both the bowlers of this accumulator be the top wicket takers for their side very easily. Both happening in the same match is a lot less likely but the return of 10x your stake should make it worth the risk.
