Gloucestershire has won six matches and lost just one so far in the T20 Blast 2020 season. It sits at the top of the Central Group standings and is already assured a place in the T20 Blast 2020 Finals Day. It really does not have too much to gain out of this match except to continue its winning run.
Glamorgan does not have a realistic chance of finishing in the top-2 and even a third-place finish in the group looks out of its grasp. It has won just two matches so far, interestingly, one of which came against Gloucestershire.
Can it repeat the double against the group leaders?
Glamorgan vs Gloucestershire T20 Blast 2020 is going to be played at the Sophia Gardens, Cardiff on the 18th of September 2020.
Glamorgan was blown away by a Babar Azam century in its previous match. As one of the weakest batting sides in the entire T20 Blast, Glamorgan did not even come close to chasing down Somerset’s total in the previous match.
It is very difficult to see Glamorgan defeat Gloucestershire in a T20 match but they have already done this once. Not a single batsman from Glamorgan has more than 200 runs. In fact, only two have over 100 runs and that makes this the worst-performing batting team in the entire Blast.
Chris Cooke and Andrew Balbirnie have shown some glimpses of form. They both have crossed fifty on at least one occasion each, something that no other batsman has been able to do.
It will take something miraculous from Glamorgan’s batting to be able to get enough runs to beat Gloucestershire for a second time. The only hope that they have is for a stunning bowling performance, like the one they put in a couple of matches ago.
Prem Sisodiya, Timm van der Gugten, and Andrew Salter have all been in the wickets. The conditions in Cardiff can be bowler-friendly and that is where Glamorgan has to try and take advantage.
David Lloyd, Nicholas Selman, Chris Cooke, Andy Balbirnie, Kiran Carlson, Daniel Douthwaite, Graham Wagg, Andrew Salter, Ruaidhri Smith, Timm van der Gugten, Prem Sisodiya.
The character of the Gloucestershire team is exactly the opposite of Glamorgan’s. Ian Cockbain and CJ Dent have been in good batting form with over 250 runs each. There have also been some very good contributions from Miles Hammond, van Buuren, and Ryan Higgins.
Overall, the strength of the Gloucestershire batting is far beyond what Glamorgan seems to have. We cannot account for individual variation but on most days Gloucestershire should be able to out-bat Glamorgan with ease.
Tom Smith, David Payne, Van Buuren, and Ryan Higgins have all been having an excellent T20 Blast so far. There are very few bad deliveries on offer for opposition teams when they play against Gloucestershire.
This is why the increase in pressure helps every single bowler get wickets.
This bowling attack will be licking its lips in anticipation of going up against Glamorgan.
Miles Hammond, Chris Dent, IA Cockbain, Ryan Higgins, Jack Taylor, James Bracey, Benny Howell, GLV Buuren, Tom Smith, David Payne, MD Taylor.
The team that wins the toss is going to want to field first to try get any advantage from a fresh pitch if possible.

There is no rain or clouds expected in Cardiff on match day. That usually means that the conditions are going to be more batting-friendly than general, not good news for the home team. The average score in Cardiff is always a bit lower than at other places.
The outfield is large and can be a bit on the slower side as well.
Teams batting first should aim to get somewhere around the 170 mark to have a very good chance of winning.
We think Gloucestershire is going to be able to take revenge for its only loss of the T20 Blast 2020 season so far. It has a better batting lineup with a lot more people in form. It is also full of confidence. The only thing that we are going to be careful about is load management. If Gloucestershire decides to rest some of its best players for this match then Glamorgan has a glimmer of hope.
