Vitality T20 Blast got off to a rather strange start. Apart from one match, between Lancashire and Durham, all other matches were washed-out due to rain. The Central Group and the South Group tables are still in the same position as it was a couple of days ago, albeit with each team having a point each to its name.
To start another day in the competition, Glamorgan is set to lock horns with Birmingham Bears in the first contest of Sunday. The two teams both had a dismal run last year and this battle of two teams that finished at the bottom of the ladder last year, promises to be a cracker of a game. The match between the two sides is to be played at the Sophia Gardens, Cardiff, on 30th August 2020.
Led by Chris Cooke, Glamorgan is one of the sides that is going to miss its overseas contingent the most. Although they finished at the bottom of the ladder least year, the likes of Colin Ingram and Marnus Labuschagne would have been of immense utility this.
Glamorgan had a forgetful season last year. Remarkably, it failed to win all but one match last year. The one match that they won came right at the end of the season as they defeated Hampshire in a game that Hampshire so desperately needed to win to qualify for the knockouts.
Glamorgan has a few good players, who can win the match on their own. Besides, Glamorgan is a team that is unlikely to be bogged down by a series of bad results, or a bad last year, to be precise. With Chris Cooke leading them, there is no shortage of experience in leadership. The signing of Andrew Balbirinie is expected to strengthen Glamorgan's middle-order, which appeared a bit inexperienced prior to his signing. With Timm van der Gugten and Marchant de Lange leading the bowling attack, their pace contingent looks well settled and could be threatening in suitable conditions. Their spin department, however, looks a little too inexperienced. Glamorgan would need it's batting to step up and if it manages to do that, there's no reason why they cannot challenge the better teams in the competition.

Birmingham Bears, also known as Warwickshire Bears, is one of the most experienced units of the competition. With the experience that they already had, there's been a minimal impact of the pandemic on the lineup the Bears were to field had there been no pandemic.
Despite the experience they have, or many say because of - a debate for another day, the Bears had a poor last year as they narrowly missed the bottom of table spot. On paper and at the beginning of the competition, the Bears were a spectacularly balanced side. They won their first three encounters, but it all started going downhill after their last win. An evidence of that is that they defeated Lancashire - twice, the team that went on to top the table.
Birmingham Bears are likely to feature with more or less the same lineup. There is no scarcity of experience, which is evident by the plethora of players having international experience under their belt. Among their young guns, the Bears have players who are in the reckoning for the three-lions spot. Sam Hain is one of those players and his experience of scoring runs consistently could be handy for the Bears.
The Bears have a decent bowling lineup, at least on paper. With Henry Brookes, Tim Bresnan, and Jeetan Patel, they have an express bowler, experience seamer, and an experienced spinner. In addition to those, the likes of Oliver Hannon Dalby and Olly Stone add to the balance of the Bears' lineup. Birmingham has a pretty good side, but they'll need to show fighting spirit and play with aggression, which is something they lacked last year. If they can do that, a knock-out spot should be a given for them.

This is yet another day game at this venue and batting is likely to get difficult as the day progresses. With no dew to help the team batting second, there's no tangible advantage that the chasing team will have. Considering that as well as the fact that Glamorgan succesful

While it rained heavily over the past two days all over England, Cardiff was spared by the weather gods as we managed to get a game in here. The forecast for Sunday looks good as well as with negligble chances of rain. Cardiff has a surface that has something in it for batsmen as well as the bowlers both. We expect the surface to be better for than batsmen than it was in Saturday's match. Considering that, the team batting first should be aiming to put a total of at least 165 runs on the board.

Vitality T20 Blast hasn't really got off to a good start with rain washing out most of the matches. Weather is expected to get better over the next few days and that should be enough to bring about at least a few close contests. As the upcoming contest is between the two sides that had poor outings last year, we expect both sides to come out hard in a quest to put some points on the board early in the competition. Comparing the two sides on paper, the Bears appear to be a better team, and are, therefore, our pick to bet on in the upcoming encounter.
