About the Match
Midlands/Wales/West Division Group is now at almost halfway stage as Glamorgan Dragons lock horns with Somerset Sabres. This match will be played at Taunton on 19th July 2013. Glamorgan slid from first position to second in the table after Northamptonshire registered a win against Somerset in their previous game. The Dragons will be looking to regain that first place with a win in this game. Somerset Sabres are struggling at the fourth position and would be looking to come out of that middle part of the table with a victory.
Glamorgan Dragons :
Quite unexpectedly, Dragons have outplayed almost every team in their group so far. They were at the top of the table for most part of the group stage thus far and have deserved to be there. With four wins out of five games with impressive NRR of 1.350, they stand at second place in their group. Kiwi all-rounder Nathan Mcullum has proved to be a real boon for them with his economical bowling and attacking batting. Murray Goodwin is in fine nick and can hammer the bowlers around. Mark Wallace and Jim Allenby have been in terrific form. They have a well-balanced side and considering their form, struggling Somerset will have a hard time.
Somerset Sabres had a decent start to the tournament, but faltered in midway in their campaign and are now struggling at fourth position in the points table. They lost their last game against Northamptonshire despite restricting them to a reasonable total. They got off to a good start, but kept losing wickets and eventually lost the match by 10-runs. After four ducks in the competiton, Trescothick looks to be back in form as he looked good in his short but imposing stay at the crease. Craig Kieswetter and Jos Buttler can boost the score with wide range of their aggressive stroke play. They have a decent bowling lineup and overall, this side looks to be one of the best in this group and can present a tough task to Dragons.
It is an important game as far as points table is concerned. One team will be looking to go at the top of the table while a win for other would take them out of mid-table competition. Can Somerset Sabres bounce back into the tournament with a win in this game? Somerset was impressive in the beginning of the tournament, but lost its way in the middle. Glamorgan has done well and results show that; its batsmen and bowlers have done well and with the kind of form they’re in, I expect them to win this crucial encounter.
