After a wet opening day, the weekend is shaping up to be much better weather-wise in the United Kingdom. Both the team competing in this match will be certainly hoping for some shining in Bristol so that they are able to get started in the T20 Blast 2020.
Gloucestershire is going to be playing against Glamorgan in what is both of their second scheduled match. They both took one point each without even stepping on the park and so we don’t really know much more about the teams than what we did before the season started.
Gloucestershire vs Glamorgan T20 Blast 2020 is going to be played at the County Ground, Bristol on the 29th of August 2020.
Gloucestershire finished second in the tough South Group last season but is going to without some of its key members from that side. Michael Klinger has retired, Andrew Tye and Qais Ahmad are not going to be able to make it to the UK, and so the team will have to look at its youngsters to step up.
That being said, there is still a lot of quality in the Gloucestershire team.
The batting is going to be led by Miles Hammond and Ian Cockbain with a long list of all-rounders to follow. Graeme van Buuren, James Bracey, Benny Howell, Ryan Higgins, and even Gareth Roderick can all be useful with the bat.
This should allow Gloucestershire to be able to get a decent score in most matches.
What about the bowling then?
Here too Gloucestershire has some decent options. Ryan Higgins, Benny Howell, and David Payne are all very good in T20 cricket. The lack of a specialist death bowler like Tye will hurt but we think Gloucestershire should be able to find a way around that.
Miles Hammond, Chris Dent, IA Cockbain, Ryan Higgins, James Bracey, Jack Taylor, George Scott, GLV Buuren, Tom Smith, David Payne, MD Taylor.
Glamorgan comes into this season T20 blast with a lot of hope but not much else. The club suffered its worst-ever T20 Blast campaign in 2019 and is missing some of its best players this year. Potentially, Glamorgan has a worse side than the previous season and that should be worrying for the fans.
Colin Ingram and Marnus Labuschage are not going to be able to line up for Glamorgan and that is a huge loss. They have managed to get Andrew Balbirnie in as a replacement but the batting still looks quite weak.
Chris Cooke may be one of the batsmen that are expected to bring some solidity to the team with maybe Billy Root and Nick Selman chipping in regularly as well.
Merchant de Lange is coming off a splendid hundred and maybe he will get promoted up the order to smash the ball around! De Lange and Timm van der Gugten are the leading bowlers of the team with Andrew Salter in there as a supporting act as well.
The outlook for Glamorgan is not too positive and we cannot see them competing regularly against some of the other teams in this competition.
Chris Cooke, Kiran Carlson, Callum Taylor, Billy Root, Daniel Douthwaite, Graham Wagg, Andrew Salter, Marchant de Lange, Timm van der Gugten, Prem Sisodiya, Andy Balbirnie.
The team that wins the toss is going to want to bat first. Setting the total is something that both teams prefer and so we may see a bit of change from the usual T20 strategy here.

The weather seems to have turned for the better and it looks like we will get a very good day for cricket. The sun is going to be shining in Bristol and will probably make for good batting conditions. The pitch remains much the same in Bristol and so the team winning the toss is not going to have much of an advantage.
A high-scoring match with a score of around 180 being par is expected.

We think Gloucestershire has enough in its squad to be able to get past Glamorgan with ease. Most of the teams are a bit weaker this season due to the lack of availability of foreign players and so the local stocks are going to count for a lot. This is where Gloucestershire has a big advantage over Glamorgan.
