HBH vs ADS Match Prediction & Betting Tips - Jan 31, 2019
The Adelaide Strikers have all but been knocked out of the Big Bash League playoff race after another dismal loss against the Sydney Sixers in their previous match. The Adelaide Strikers will be facing up against the best side of BBL 08, the Hobart Hurricanes.
The Hobart Hurricanes have qualified for the BBL 08 Playoffs but are showing no signs of slowing down. They destroyed Brisbane Heat in their previous game and now have nine wins from their eleven matches this season.
This match is going to be played at the Aurora Stadium, Launceston where only one previous match has been played in BBL 08. That match saw the Perth Scorchers score just 107 in their allotted 20 overs and a lot of criticism was directed towards the playing surface.
Hopefully, the pitch for this match will be better for some exciting cricket to be played.
HBH vs ADS Team Previews
Hobart Hurricanes
The Hobart Hurricanes won their previous match by nine wickets and it barely looked like they were trying. Jarrod Freeman, David Moody, and Clive Rose got an opportunity to play together in this match alongside Jofra Archer and James Faulkner as the senior bowlers of the side.
Early wickets for James Faulkner and Jofra Archer made things very easy for the bowlers to follow. The two senior bowlers ensured that the opposition was completely on the backfoot and looking to consolidate its position rather than on the attack.
David Moody picked up two wickets for 27 runs in his four overs, James Faulkner had the exact same figures, while Jofra Archer gave away 28 runs for his two wickets.
This performance showed the depth that the Hobart Hurricanes squad has. We expect them to continue to rotate out a few players in every match from here on in. We don’t think the batting order is going to be meddled with unless there is some injury concern.
Darcy Short continued his complete domination of the Big Bash League by smashing his sixth fifty injust eleven innings this season. He is the highest scorer in the entire league and is playing at an unbelievable level right now.
He and Matthew Wade form the most dangerous batting partnership in the entire BBL right now. The Hurricanes have demonstrated their batting depth on multiple occasions and no can take the likes of Ben McDermott or George Bailey lightly.
Now that Caleb Jewel has started scoring runs as well, the strongest batting lineup in the competition is only getting stronger.
Hobart Hurricanes Playing 11
Matthew Wade, D'Arcy Short, Caleb Jewell, Ben McDermott, GJ Bailey, Simon Milenko, James Faulkner, Jofra Chioke Archer, Clive Rose, Jarrod Freeman, David Moody.
Adelaide Strikers
The Adelaide Strikers are staring at an exit from the BBL 08 after the group stages. There is a very slim chance of the Strikers making it to the playoffs but for that, they will have to win all their remaining matches and hope a lot of results go their way.
In all likelihood, the Adelaide Strikers are already out of the running for a playoff spot.
The formula that worked so well for them last time around seems to have gone wrong this season. The Adelaide Strikers continue to have one of the best bowling lineups in the competition but a lack of runs from their top-order has made it difficult for them to pick wickets.
Rashid Khan is the highest wicket-taker for the Adelaide Strikers but he is not as penetrative as he was. This could be a result of the players adjusting to his bowling style or just poor form on Rashid Khan’s part.
Ben Laughlin is also having a poor season after being exceptional in the last season. The presence of Billy Stanlake, Peter Siddle, and Michael Neser ensures there is always a chance for the Adelaide Strikers to win but the batsmen must do their part.
The Adelaide Strikers batsmen have been very poor. Alex Carey, Jake Weatherald, Colin Ingram, and the others have played one or two good innings but no batsman has been able to hit a sustained run of form. The loss of Travis Head to the national side has proven to be insurmountable for the Adelaide Strikers.
Jake Lehman has been given a few opportunities in this late stage of the Big Bash League but there has not been any major difference to the team’s performance. It is difficult for a side that has been knocked out of the tournament o lift itself for the last few matches.
There are some individual gains to be made but the team can often disintegrate further.
Adelaide Strikers Playing 11
Alex Carey, Jake Weatherald, Jake Lehmann, Colin Ingram, JW Wells, Harry Nielsen, Cameron Valente, Michael Neser, Rashid Khan, Ben Laughlin, WA Agar.
HBH vs ADS Toss Prediction
The toss is going to be quite important in this match. We think the side winning the toss is likely to want to field first.

Pitch and Conditions
The Big Bash League match between the Hobart Hurricanes and the Adelaide Strikers is going to be played at the Aurora Stadium, Launceston. The weather in Launceston is expected to be nice and sunny on match day.
The pitch is going to be very crucial in this encounter. The last time a BBL match was played here, the spinners got a lot of help and the batsmen found it difficult to score. We think a batter pitch is going to be available this time around but the run scoring is still going to be a bit tough.
Winning the toss is going to be a big advantage here.
HBH vs ADS Betting Tips
The Hobart Hurricanes have shown themselves to be best side of the BBL by a fair distance. It will take an astonishing individual performance from one of the Adelaide Strikers or a surface that makes it difficult to play normal cricket for the Hobart Hurricanes to lose.
Back the Hobart Hurricanes to win.
