HBH vs BH Match Prediction - Jan 25, 2023

As only the top five teams reach the post-season in the BBL (three teams will be eliminated), it’s really GO time for the Hurricanes and Heat. Brisbane have rocketed up the standings with four straight wins and sit comfortably in third place. The Hurricanes, conversely, have been in a tailspin and lost three in a row to dwell in 7th place.

HBH vs BH Team Previews

Hobart Hurricanes

The Heat defeated the Hurricanes only a few days ago, and all signs point to them doing it again. The side has been bolstered by the return of Renshaw, Khawaja, and Labuschagne, as these three batters are some of the finest for the Aussie side and their skill level has risen in recent years.

As good as the Heat appear at the moment, there’s also the news to consider that this batting trio, as well as spinner Mitchell Swepson, will be absent for the Challenger match and Final, should the Heat make it that far. This is terrible news, as that’s a large chunk of Brisbane’s batting power simply vanished.

It helps that batters Jimmy Peirson and Sam Hain are providing assistance at the right time, as Peirson picked up 57* and Hain made 73* in the victory over the Stars. This is much needed if Brisbane is to survive without four of their best cricketers.

Michael Neser (18 wickets) and James Bazley (14) are strong bowlers to carry the side, although Neser followed up an impressive 3/27 with a disastrous 0/54 in the next game. We suppose everyone has bad games!

Brisbane Heat

Dear, oh dear, what happened to the Hurricanes? The squad looked good on paper at the start of the season, but Hobart has failed to put together a promising effort during the BBL year.

Tim David has been an exemplary batter with 350 runs and Matthew Wade has been decent with 295 runs, but there’s a big drop-off to Caleb Jewell at 272. Jewell had been excellent during the start of the season, but his batting has dipped to the point where he’s barely trustworthy, as he only scored 38 runs in four matches.

The bowling has helped keep Hobart in matches and we’ve been impressed with spinner Paddy Dooley (when he’s not injured) and his 19 wickets, as well as fast bowler Riley Meredith’s 20 wickets. But the squad gives up runs too easily and just isn’t a threat with the ball or bat.

Pitch and Conditions

The pitch at the University of Tasmania Stadium isn’t considered world-class and batters typically don’t have big scores here. It may end up being a low-scoring match that is dominated by the pace bowlers. It can often be rainy and cloudy in Hobart.

HBH vs BH Betting Tips

The decline of Hobart is noticeable and we just don’t think that they’ll have enough strength to defeat a powerful Heat team. The odds for Brisbane are actually better and this is a great bet, as Brisbane are almost certain to get the victory here. Take this chance while you can!
