HBHW vs ADSW Match Prediction - Nov 11, 2022

The WBBL is starting to get serious with regard to ladder placement for the upcoming finals. As of now, the Hurricanes are placed fifth and just outside the chance for the finals, while the Strikers are third but could reach second or even first with a win.

The Strikers are coming off a huge win over the Scorchers and the Hurricanes picked up a victory against the Renegades (but it was the Renegades, so let’s not freak out).

HBHW vs ADSW Team Previews

Hobart Hurricanes Women

The Hurricanes have had a bit of an up and down schedule lately, but even if the win over the Renegades was encouraging, there are still a few issues. There’s a lack of consistent batting, as no one can seem to put together a few reliable batting performances.

Lizelle Lee has dropped off from her great form, making only 15 runs in her last two matches, and even though Elyse Villani made a nice 41*, we want to see her do that against tougher squads. Heather Graham and Mignon du Preez are still batting well, especially du Preez, who made 73* against the Heat.

Much of the bowling will be down to spinner Molly Strano, who recently took 4/16 against the Renegades and is now the all-time WBBL wicket-taker. Graham had three matches without a wicket, but took 2/11 vs. the Renegades. Graham is a fantastic allrounder, but we worry about her facing great teams like the Strikers.

Adelaide Strikers Women

Adelaide is by far a strong candidate for hosting the trophy at the end of the season, as they are playing in perfect harmony right now. The team has won four of its last five games, with the one loss being a surprise defeat to the Stars.

The Strikers are so lethal because the top-order and middle-order batters are full of talent. The team’s top scorers are currently Katie Mack (227 runs) and Madeline Penna (225 runs), but they aren’t the only ones capable of making big scores.

Deandra Dottin and Bridget Patterson have both emerged as dangerous batters in recent games, as Dottin’s 68* against the Scorchers proved she’s not to be taken lightly. She had been a bit quiet at the crease before this, but we also knew she could make a huge score. Patterson rarely makes giant runs, but is incredibly consistent.

For the bowlers, the leading wicket-takers for the team are Amanda-Jade Wellington (15) and Megan Schutt (14), and the Strikers will really have to rely on these two to ensure the Hurricanes don’t get comfortable.

Jemma Barsby has been steadily improving as well, and this is good news for the Strikers, as they need to ensure that all 20 overs have reliable bowlers. Barsby has picked up 5/59 in her last three matches. Darcie Brown had been bowling very well for a while, although her 0/88 in her last three games is pretty poor.

HBHW vs ADSW Toss Prediction

Adelaide is 8-1 when batting first against Hobart, so it seems like they’ll keep up this idea. Make a huge total and force the Hurricanes to fret when batting second.

Pitch and Conditions

The pitch really favours batters and the outfield is incredibly fast, so look out for many boundaries.

HBHW vs ADSW Betting Tips

The Hurricanes are a good side, but they seem to struggle against better teams, even if they can take care of those beneath them on the ladder. Adelaide has the chance to reach the top of the WBBL and it’s hard to see them fail when playing Hobart.

There’s just too much talent on the Strikers team, and despite the Hurricanes fighting hard for a place in the top four, Adelaide will also be ensuring they’ve got a spot and won’t give up easily. Plus, the Strikers have won the last 10 matches against the Hurricanes, and are 10-2 overall. This goes to show that Adelaide knows how to defeat this Hobart team at any time.

Bet on Adelaide to win.
