With just four matches left for each team, it is anyone’s tournament. The WBBL is heading towards an exciting finish with almost every team in contention for a playoff spot right now. This next match is going to be played between the Hobart Hurricanes women and the Adelaide Strikers. Both teams managed to win one match while losing the other over the weekend.
A win here is going to be immensely important in the overall qualification context.
Hobart Hurricanes vs Adelaide Strikers WBBL 2020 is going to be played at the Hurstville Oval, Sydney on the 17th of November 2020.
After a brilliant victory against the Sydney Sixers, the Hobart Hurricanes women failed miserably against Brisbane Heat. We had been speaking about the reliance of the team on Rachel Priest and Hayley Matthews to some extent and that showed in the previous match.
Both the leading run-scorers for the Hurricanes failed and the rest of the batting just folded.
A lot more is going to be needed from the Hurricanes batting leading into this next phase of matches.
Belinda Vakarewa and Hayley Matthews continue to be the leading bowlers for the side. They have a number of other good bowlers but the batting has to provide the runs needed for them to defend.
Naomi Stalenberg, Rachel Priest, Hayley Matthews, Nicola Carey, Chloe Tryon, Corinne Hall, Sasha Moloney, Emma Thompson, Amy Smith, Brooke Hepburn, Belinda Vakarewa.
The Strikers had a very similar weekend to the Hobart Hurricanes. They also beat the Sydney Sixers convincingly and lost to Brisbane Heat by a massive margin. This is not what the Strikers ideally needed but they will take the one win happily.
The Strikers owe their victory to a brilliant bowling performance from Megan Schutt who picked up three wickets for just seven runs in her four overs. Sarah Coyte also bowled very well to help the Strikers defend a below-par total.
Like the Hurricanes, the batting is a concern for the Adelaide Strikers.
They need Laura Wolvaardt to shed her mid-tournament slump and to help take this team to the next level. Katie Mack and Tahlia McGrath have important roles to play as well.
T McGrath, Katie Mack, Laura Wolvaardt, B Patterson, Stafanie Taylor, Amanda Wellington, Maddie Penna, T McPharlin, S Coyte, Megan Schutt, Darcie Brown.
We think the team that wins the toss is going to want to bat first. Both the teams have been successfully defending rather than chasing down totals.

The conditions at the Hurstville Oval are expected to be slow and a bit low. The slower bowlers are going to be tough to get away and the outfield can be a bit heavy as well. Everything points to a score of around 125-130 being hard to chase down.
We are going to go with the Adelaide Strikers in this match. We think the bowling lineup that the Strikers have is just a bit better than the Hobart Hurricanes. They also have more depth in their batting. The Hurricanes must hope for another special inning from Rachel Priest otherwise they are going to struggle to compete.
Bet on the Adelaide Strikers to win.
